I'm not sure what Hashimoto's has to do with coffee, but I started drinking
coffee at 18 (enticed by the smell only) and I wish I had not. I have
fibrocystic breast. I'm not sure if it's caused by the coffee, but it's not
good for this condition. Whenever I drink coffee or certain foods I feel
tenderness and lumps in my breast. I definitely feel the difference in my
breast whenever I stop drinking coffee. I'm still trying to kick the caffeine
habit. I induldge no more than 5 times a month. I don't think that it would be
good for a developing girl. The dr.'s and research only makes references to
eliminating coffee, but I beleive there is a direct effect because of the way I
feel after drinking it. Some people may be more sensitive than others, but the
problem is that the condition doesn't develop until late 20's or 30's.

I have an 11 year old daughter, she was diagnosed with Hashimoto's 18 months
ago, although her levels are acceptable now that she is on Synthroid she has
many days that she "feels" hypo. Im wondering if anyone out there has a young
one and might know what the pros and cons of caffeine could be for her age
group, I grew up drinking coffee here and there and am perfectly normal (I
think)
Any info?
Thanks
