Hello!

Recently, on the Adrenal Fatigue list, there was a lady asking people to fill out a questionnaire about their age, how long they'd been sick, what works and what doesn't, and IF they really felt they deserved to get healthy.  I wrote in and asked them to broaden the questionnaire to include if they had received a significant physical or emotional trauma - JUST Prior to getting sick; if they had been experiencing stress of significant magnitude or long duration, and if they had significant unresolved conflicts in their lives.

Wow!  The feedback, while not overwhelming in quantity (just before Christmas...everyone was busy)  WAS overwhelming in the fact that everyone who responded had indeed had some incredibly traumatic event or events befall them - Right Before they began to get sick.

Some went on to describe multiple events that they felt were implicated in this matter of getting sick.  All of them had either car accidents, deaths in the family, divorces being instigated, etc....

This past week I was talking with a girlfriend I've known for more than 25 years.  She's had rheumatoid arthritis for all that time.  I asked her about what was going on just prior to her contracting rheumatic fever and coming down with RA.  She replied that she had contemplated getting a divorce from her husband for more than a year, then actually separated just three weeks prior to getting sick.  She agreed that this was significant in the whole scheme of things.

I've heard of this idea being discussed within the context of MS and some other nerve type diseases.  I really feel that this concept has significant implications within trying to resolve long-term illnesses, as not just the body needs to be treated, but also the mind (emotions and reason) and brain and cranial nerves.
