History:
The Taiwan Psychologist Network (TPN) was formed in August 2001 by a group of Taiwanese psychologists, mental health professionals and graduate students in psychology in the United States and Taiwan. This group was initiated by Dr. Gisela Lin, the President of the Asian American Psychological Association (2001-2003) and a psychologist at the Texas A & M University Student Counseling Services. After the 921 earthquakes and 911 terrorist attacks, the TPN was formed to help the psychologists in both countries to provide support to each other when needs arise.
Mission:
The TPN is interested in promoting collaboration and networking among psychologists in Taiwan and U.S., and in the training and education issues of Taiwanese/Taiwanese American mental health professionals. In addition, our Network also plans to:
·encourage members to seek potential collaboration opportunities (e.g., submitting proposals to national and international conferences);
·continue planning annual meeting during the convention of the American Psychological Association;
·establish mentor-mentee relationship by pairing up professionals and trainees with similar career aspirations and academic interests;
·create a monthly TPN announcement which consists of personal and professional news of the members;
·continue sending members updated membership information;
·establish liaison relationships with other national and international organizations in psychology;
·develop our recruitment brochure and advertise our network at national and international conferences.
