Re: [TFT-ALGO] Vision and Speech

I wanted to give a belated response to this message, which Roger Callahan
posted to this list serv on 1/9/04 (post #973 on these archives). We had
dialogue about this on another TFT list serv which never reached this one,
and there are things that need to be pointed out and conveyed to people on
this list serv who didn't have the opportunity to be part of our dialogue
about this claim made by Roger Callahan, when he posted the following:

In the discussion that ensued on the other list, Colin Barron made a very
important point that this "sudden loss of vision and speech" could be
explained by a temporary ischemic attack (TIA). TIAs are mini-strokes which
can resolve on their own without any treatment intervention.

Given that it took Roger 45 minutes to treat this person, their "cure" most
likely had nothing to do with his VT treatments. Roger disagreed and
reiterated that he believed that they were directly due to his treatments
and that he was convinced her loss of vision and speech was due to "toxins".
I wrote him off list, urging him to take Colin's explanation more seriously
and to make sure the patient was checked out by an MD. Roger then
responded, agreeing that he did need to make sure she had reported this to
her doctor. However, he seemed unconvinced that anything other than his
treatments were responsible for this person's recovery.

This is just one example of how I have observed Roger repeatedly jumping to
conclusions that TFT is responsible for changes and using various events as
"confirmation" of his toxin theory, when alternative explanations should
have been considered. To any neutral observer, it would seem much more
probable that the patient's symptoms went away on their own, and would have
done so without any treatment. This, by the way, was one of many exchanges
I had with Roger Callahan that lead me to seriously question his claims and
the manner in which he made them.

Richard Feynmen has said that real science is bending over backwards to
prove oneself wrong. Unfortunately, over the years, I was seeing less and
less of that with Roger and more and more, bending over backwards to prove
oneself right.

I also need to note that Roger Callahan chose to unsubscribe from this list
serv. However, if anyone would like to forward this to him and if he would
like to respond, I'd be happy to post any further comments he has on this
matter.
