We are a social group that aims to provide support to people that have had the laparoscopic adjustable band or ‘lap band’. We provide a safe and no judgmental space for lap banders to talk about their experiences on this journey no matter what stage they are at. We also are there as a source of experience for people looking to be banded at some point in the future.

At no time are we to replace the advice or knowledge of your surgeon! We strongly advise that you seek your surgeon’s advice on any medical related matters as we are not in any position to assist. Rather we are here to listen to you as you move through the different stages of banding life. We are here to share your joys and frustrations. Our group meets regularly in a social situation that is open to everyone friends, family and events vary depending on needs. It might be a coffee or a dinner or a nice long walk – all events are for meeting and sharing experiences with other banders.

Also included at these events will be clothing swaps, so that we can pass on clothes that we have grown out of and no longer use so that others on different stages can lessen the cost of updating their wardrobe. Please note that you are expected to then pass these items on again at some future date so that everyone gets to share in the pool.

Flaming or inciting hatred of any kind will not be tolerated, your post will be removed and your membership terminated. We do not like doing this, so please do not give us cause to do this! We are all here for the same thing – understanding and support so lets keep it nice.

As this site is one where members talk about many confidential issues, we would like to remind you that it important to keep other people's information private. We cannot enforce any Privacy Acts, however any member who breaches another member's confidentiality can be removed from the list immediately without explanation.
