Survivors is currently in partnership with Kathy Fuchie, manager of
Town and Campus Salon of Gettysburg, in the planning and presentation
of the CUT IT OUT seminar.
During the seminar, participants will be taught to spot the signs of
domestic abuse and to listen to what clients may be saying about
being victimized or possibly in danger. The format for the seminar
includes discussion, a video with role-playing scenarios, and lecture
and group activities. Participants are not expected to serve as
counselors but, by providing access to literature and other
resources, act as a vital link to programs that can help victims.
Often, women tell their stylists things that they don't even tell
their families. Most people don't know how to react when someone
tells them that they are being emotionally abused or physically hurt.
We want to teach our professionals how to help their clients find the
necessary resources to get help.
Any salon professionals, including massage therapists,
cosmetologists, and nail technicians are invited to attend. To
register for the seminar call Dawn Edwards, Community Education
Specialist with Survivors, Inc at 717-334-0589 ext. 25.
