Re: [SurvivorsIncVolunteer] FW: Challenge the Night Luminary Event and Luminary Sale

I signed up for the whole two hours, but have since been asked to work that night.  I would still like to participate for as long as I can, but I don't feel that I will be able to be there long enough to get credit for the event.

Greetings!
In a little over a week- Saturday October 13, 2007 from 6pm-8pm- the ‘Challenge the Night Luminary Event’ will take place in Lincoln Square in Gettysburg as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month activities.  This event will consist of a brief dedication, a speaker who has survived domestic violence and the lighting of the luminaries…luminaries that will challenge the darkness for a few short hours in the center of Gettysburg’s town square … but we urgently need your help to succeed!  We will be selling luminaries until the evening of the 13th, and the proceeds benefit Survivors, Inc. and the YWCA Gettysburg & Adams County.
You can help the struggle to end domestic violence in Adams County by:
  • Widely forwarding this email with the attached flyer and order form to friends, colleagues, and family and encourage them to purchase luminaries.  (The flyers are in Adobe PDF, and a free reader is available on our website at: http://www.survivorsservices.org/NewsletterArchives.html - click on the Adobe Reader link and then click the ‘download Adobe Reader’ button- then follow the prompts- the reader download is free.)
  • Post the flyer at your workplace, in public areas (where posting is allowed- we do not want to get anyone in trouble!)
  • Widely distribute the order form to interested folks
  • Show your support by purchasing luminaries before the event and/or stopping by the square in Gettysburg from 6pm-8pm
Thank you for your support.  Together we can send the message that battering will not be tolerated in Adams County!  If you have any questions about the event, need the flyer and order form sent in another format, or would like to purchase luminaries feel free to contact Survivors, Inc. or the YWCA Gettysburg & Adams County.
