The life of Cindy Bischof will never be forgotten
thanks to her brother Michael. Although Cindy had two orders of
protection against her ex-boyfriend, he tracked her down at work and
murdered her outside of her office. Michael Bischof has turned the
tragic loss of his sister Cindy into a campaign to improve the
effectiveness of orders of protection through GPS monitoring of
dangerous offenders. Join us as Diane Rosenfeld of Harvard Law School
and Michael Bischof share their efforts to promote legislation authorizing
states to use GPS monitoring to track violent domestic violence
offenders.
Leading the
discussion:
Diane Rosenfeld
is a Lecturer at Harvard Law School and former Senior Counsel for the
Violence Against Women Office (now Office on Violence Against Women)
at the US Department of Justice. She is involved in the national
effort to promote the use of GPS monitoring of high-risk domestic
violence offenders.
Michael Bischof
is the founder of the Cindy Bischof Memorial Foundation, established
in memory of his beloved sister, Cindy. He has been a national
advocate for better protection of domestic violence victims through
new laws authorizing GPS, and led the effort in Illinois that
resulted in the Cindy Bischof Domestic Violence Surveillance Act.
