Prosecutors
have charged a Los Angeles woman with attempted premeditated murder of an
exotic dancer who was doused with flammable liquid and set ablaze outside a
club.
The
district attorney’s office says 27-year-old Rianne Celine Theriault-Odom was
also charged Wednesday with mayhem and torture. The defendant was set for
arraignment in Van Nuys Superior Court.
Roberta
Busby, 27 of Simi Valley, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Theriault-Odom
allegedly exchanged words with the dancer outside the Babes N’ Beer nightclub
early Thursday, doused her with an accelerant contained in a soda bottle and
set her afire.
The
defendant was later arrested with 22-year-old Nathaniel Petrillo, but
prosecutors declined to charge him.
Theriault-Odom
and Petrillo were arrested Monday in a motel on Lankershim Boulevard in North
Hollywood following a five day manhunt.
Busby,
who graduated from Apollo High School in 2001, is a single mother with two
small children who had worked as a bill collector before being laid off
recently.
“She
went to work, and she came home to her kids,” Busby’s friend Crystal Mendoza
said last week.
Busby’s
family has set up a fund for her children. The fund is set up under Rodrigo
Busby for the benefit of the Children of Roberta Busby, and donations can be
made at any Washington Mutual bank. They also can be mailed to 3835 E. Thousand
Oaks Blvd. No. 256, Westlake Village, CA 91362.
