September 18, 2008

Dear Terri,

Autumn is here and it is now time to nominate a Women's eNews 21 Leaders for the 21st Century. Check off October 6th as the final submission date for our annual open nomination call for 21 Leaders for 2009!

Please send your nominations to 21leaders@... by midnight on October 6, 2008.

The 2009 21 Leaders Gala will be held on May 7, 2009 at the fabulous Jumeirah Essex House.

Please save the date! We would love for you to be with us.

Your nomination is important! You are one of a growing number of individuals supporting news media dedicated to ensuring women's voices are heard and their issues addressed. Women's voices are especially important during the upcoming elections-as well as whatever happens after November.

As an avid reader and supporter of Women's eNews we want to extend this invitation so you can nominate someone you know personally or professionally who has made a difference in the lives of women. If you know of a person who deserves worldwide recognition for the work they have done on behalf of women, please nominate them today.

21 Leaders for the 21st Century honors people of all ages, heritages, countries, and professions who have made a positive impact on the lives of women. The annual Gala will be particularly elegant this year as Women's eNews' celebrates in New York City's fabulous Essex House, a grand and historic hotel on Central Park South.

Former 21 Leaders have embodied the breadth and depth of leadership on behalf of women worldwide--rom Baghdad to Vietnam, Rwanda to Afghanistan, from New York to San Francisco, from Wall Street trading floors to the union halls. The 21 Leaders have been athletes, corporate executives, philanthropists, religious leaders, and union organizers, They have initiated and led global business initiatives and hosted high-level invitation-only events for venture capitalists. They have organized their communities and stood up to elected officials. They have challenged sexual harassment in the workplace and have successfully advocated for women and girls. They are from all walks of life, all backgrounds-and share a commitment to women and made ground-breaking efforts to improve their lives. And yes, we honor men too-at least one each year.

You can read more about past 21 Leaders here. (Follow the links at the bottom of the page to see previous years leaders.)

Women's eNews staff and board review each nomination. We will announce the 21 Leaders for 2009 on December 28. Their biographies and photographs will be posted on www.womensenews.org and will remain on our site throughout all of 2009.

We truly thank you for sharing our commitment to improving women's lives.

Thank you for reading Women's eNews,

Sincerely,

Rita Henley Jensen, founder and Editor in Chief
