Dear Henry, Tom, et al, I APOLOGIZE, I APOLOGIZE. I am a Chiropractor in addition to being a Certified Hellerwork Pracitioner for eighteen years. I apologize for any kind of "elitest" attitude or words that I used. As Structural Integration Bodyworkers I know that many of us have gone way above and beyond any regular training to be able to facilitate our clients expression and health. I have been trained in Neuro-emotional technique, Network Chiropractic, Tom Gordon's Communication Skills, Rebirthing, some Neuro-linguistic Programming, Touch for Health, some Hakomi, Hospice Training and have had hundreds of hours of therapy of various kinds. Much of this training I was introduced to by Joseph Heller in the Hellerwork School.
I know that Physical Therapists and Chiropractors and M.D.'s do not have any kind of structured, directed communication skills training for traversing emotional territory as part of their regular curriculum. Much less do any of these disciplines have any training in touching people with the level of intimacy that we do.
So I sincerely apologize if I offended any of our obviously competent colleagues with my condescending remarks. If we could not be with people in this manner we would not be in this line of work.
So Henry, as you notice from all this, there are regular, skilled trainings available for learning what you inquired about. Even with all my perceived, self righteous expertise, notice how I offended some folks. "Progress, not perfection" and still learning.....Jim Dohn
