Hi All, to expand from Tom's research posting.
Idea: Rolfers working in small geographically local groups developing
Rolfing skills, languaging and technologies.
This would involve people gathering together for a few hours weekly for a
period of time and developing and implementing a program to address their
needs for professional development and extend their working repertoire. A
measure of outcome would be utilised.
*Would be the necessary learning field for people who dont find "pressure
cooker", "cram it all in NOW" to be cost/learning effective.
*This could be recieve CE credits reducing costs, and reduce the Advanced
Training time/cost.
*Would be a low cost, easily timetabled training/development allowing the
dispersal of ideas/techniques/awarenesses within our community far more
quickly.
*Would also address the isolated inwardly focused character common in our
professional social network by enhancing colleagiality
*Would accelerate development of the work.
*Provide fertile ground for research both empirical and qualitative.
*Would free faculty up from being pretty much sole torch bearers of "cutting
edge development" and "definers of Rolfing" to concentrate on teaching
classes.
*Appreciation of development of work offered by faculty may increase.
*Individuals existing limits of awareness and mode of working would be
expanded.
Formalising the structure of these groups would raise many interesting
questions that would demand growth of us in order to be answered fully.
This development by small group is what the faculty has done - and while I
respect their skills I deny any suggestion that the rest of us are not
capable of similar fruitful interaction with other Rolfers focused on
developing Rolfing.
