Hi Carol, Good to hear from you. I have been doing Hellerwork Structural
Integration for 20 years.......I graduated from Chiropractic College 13 years
ago. Chiropractic for me was the next indicated education for my practice.
About 50% of what I do is S.I. The other 50% is family practice health care
as a Chiropractor. Yesterday one of my clients that started out at an S.I.
client, finished the series and now comes in occasionally for whatever. She
had fallen and hurt her elbow......The Chiropractic training includes
clinical diagnosis in the 4400 hundred hours. After doing the history I
checked out
her swollen elbow and used a tuning fork to determine that a bone was
probably broken. I sent her to her family practice HMO MD for x-rays. It was
broken and she was sent to an orthopedic guy. After the casting and healing
she
will come back to me. The deal is that she trusts me and I am accessible. I
trust her MD so refer there when it is appropriate. I also refer to other
S.I. practitioners and to other Chiropractors occasionally. I do not have a
specific answer for your question of when....I do know that each of us develop
certain abilities and I usually refer to people that have treated
me......There are as many different ways to practice Chiropractic as there are
ways to
practice Deep Tissue Bodywork, so the referrels tend to be to particular
people that I know and have experienced...and Chiropractors are the best at
moving
specific bones. I like the role of family doctor who will not prescribe
drugs right off the bat....and I like having S.I. as a proactive way of going
for health or transformation. I am a little leary of messing with my karma
when I am looking for an accident victim to help...the S.I. series allows for
this kind of enrollment into wellness that doesn't need a traumatic reason to
start....How's that?
Thanks for asking....I like to talk as you have probably noticed.....Isn't
what we do a great way to make a living? Dr. Jim
