Re: [Structural_Integration] workshop for SI folks

OPEN to ALL structural integration
practitioners(Heller, IPBS, KMI, Guild of SI, Rolf
Institute etc.)

Strategies for Integration:
Demystifying Your Integrative Sessions
with Jonathan Martine
Certified Advanced Rolfer/Rolfing Instructor
in Folly Beach, South Carolina
April 15,16,17 ,2005 (9:00-5:30)

Do you ever feel at a loss when you reach the
“integrative sessions” (8, 9, and 10)? Would you like
to have more ways to reach those challenging clients
and restore function?

This 3-day workshop will explore the essential
elements of the integrative sessions: structure,
coordination and perception. Often not clearly
understood, balancing structure and function is a
skill that takes time to develop. Practitioners will
have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of
the biomechanical, anatomical and
functional/coordinative foundations of dynamic
stability. We will use these insights to strategize
effective and coherent interventions.

The ability to access our inner wisdom and express
this in the world, is a hallmark of integrated
movement. Structural Integration’s lasting effects
require empowering our clients and facilitating the
transition from table work to sitting, standing and
then to walking through life. The presentation will
draw from the latest research in axial, shoulder and
low back stabilization, as seen through the lens of
Structural Integration.

This information will be especially relevant to the
last three sessions of a SI/Rolfing series, making
them more clear and meaningful. It will provide
inspiration for post-10 work and movement integration.
Active client participation on the table, in sitting,
standing-tracking and in walking will be complemented
by repatterning exercises for the client to
rehabilitate and restore inhibited function.

Jon draws from his studies as a Rolfing and Pilates
instructor, as well as extensive research into the
nature of integration from the PT world, visceral and
Biodynamic Cranio-sacral work and exercise
rehabilitation research. Much of this research has
informed ways to engage the coordinative, perceptive
and structural aspects of clients for more complete
access to integrated contra-lateral movement.
