Hi Lucia,
Too busy to follow my initial desire to respond.
I have a client who is almost through her 12 (KMI). She was diagnosed with
Brain CA 25 years ago after noticing a slow progression of motor / sensory
distortions starting with her left foot and then up. It was removed and she
recovered but lost quite a bit of the proprioception, sensory distortion, motor
control and strength in her leg. Over time with PT and lots of effort she
regained enough to be functional but was left with a very chaotic gait. In a
sense she throws her foot out there and doesn't really know where it is till it
lands. She is very unstable and falling regularly. She started the series in
the hopes of increasing her stability and reducing these dangerous and scary
falls.
Through the series she has not only gained a sense of upright posture (she was
very forward, projecting from the hips) and ease, but also has gained a better
sense of her foot. She is more grounded and stable, centered within her self
and falling into the world less. She still has the neural loss but seems to be
making some new connections. Its still early to judge but the foot feels more
alive to her. More part of her. She is more confident walking down stairs and
standing for long times isn't a problem anymore.
I think she could gain more in the next few months. I have given her several
walking / standing meditations encouraging her to become more mindful of her leg
in slow movement and to search for a better sense and better control of it. She
will never reclaim it completely, but I think she will gain what she needs.
