Hello Mommies and Daddies!
We just got back from a lovely camping trip to Sunset Beach State
Park in Watsonville, along with a bunch of Las Madres families. It
was a treat to be amongst so many kids and parents while I'm
playing "single mom" while my husband's out of town. What would we
do without help from our friends?
Stroller Hikes is officially non-profit now, and you'll notice a link
for donations on the website this week. We're also beginning the
process of filing for grants - let me know if you have any funding
sources that you think would be a good fit for Stroller Hikes!
Last week, I polled to see if any of you were interested in seeing
Jennifer Snedeker's nature-inspired quilts in Berkeley, at her show
that will be lasting until October 31. If you didn't indicate
interest before, please respond to this week's poll, and I'll get the
ball rolling for planning a visit to Tilden in Berkeley. More
information can be found on the Events Page at StrollerHikes.com.
Also please respond to the poll to indicate interest in any of our
events; this information is useful for future planning purposes.
This week's events are rather Stevens Creek-centric, as we continue
with two bike rides along that trail, per week.:
Monday, September 29th at 9:30 am we'll hike the Stevens Creek Trail.
The hike will begin from Easy Street's Creekside Park in Mountain
View. For more information, see Stevens Creek Trail Page
(http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/StevensCreekTrail/StevensCreekTrail.html).
Feel welcome to linger at the park before and after the hike
for some play and socialization! Amy and little Adelina will lead
this hike.
Wednesday, October 1st at 10 am hike to be determined.
Wednesday, October 1st at 3:30 pm come out for a bike ride at Stevens
Creek Trail! Lisa and Samuel will lead a ride down the wide, paved
path to Shoreline Park. Meet at Creekside Park off of Easy Street in
Mountain View. For directions or more information about the trail,
see The Stevens Creek Trail Page
(http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/StevensCreekTrail/StevensCreekTrail.html).
The ride will last up to one hour, including play time for a
break at Shoreline Park or Creekside Park.
Thursday morning hikes along Los Gatos Creek Trail will be suspended
until November.
Thursday, October 2nd at 4:30 pm we'll hike at Shoreline Park and
Emily Renzel Wetlands in Mountain View/Palo Alto. The trail is paved,
so it's great for all strollers or kid carriers. Meet at the lake
next to where the sailboats are kept (to the right of the cafe /
bathrooms building) in Shoreline Park. There are plenty of play
structures and a beach for toddlers - we'll stop to play after the
hike! Sorry, no dogs allowed. For information about the park and
directions, see Shoreline Park Page
(http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/Shoreline/Shoreline.html) and
Emily Renzel/Byxbee Page
(http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/Byxbee/Byxbee.html). Debbie and
little Max will lead this hike; call 650-776-1082 if you're running
late.
Friday, October 3rd at 10 am come out for a bike ride at Steven's
Creek Trail in Mountain View, beginning from the Dana Street entrance
adjacent to the elementary school grounds. Parking in the school lot
is restricted while school is in session, but there is a lot of
street parking in the area. The path is a two-lane paved one, so all
bike transport modes will work. Melissa and Maxwell will lead the
ride to Shoreline Park. They will stop at Easy Street's Creekside
Park on the way back, to give the kids a break to play. The ride will
last about an hour. For directions to Dana Street's trailhead or
information about the trail, see the Stevens Creek Trail Page
(http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/StevensCreekTrail/StevensCreekTrail.html).
Call Melissa at 650-224-5461 if you're running late.
Happy Autumn!
-Debbie and little Max
