Hello Mommies and Daddies!
We're excited to announce a great addition to our events - Jennifer
Snedeker, an artist and environmental educator, will be leading
weekly hikes from Campbell Park on the Los Gatos Creek Trail, on
Thursday mornings. Jennifer hopes to integrate a little bit of
discovery and education in the hikes, tapping into her experience
leading hikes and other events for multiple nonprofit educational
groups throughout the Bay Area. Welcome, Jennifer! Her first hike
is this week (no hike next week due a prior obligation).
If you check out the Interactive Map at strollerhikes.com, you'll
notice several new hikes have been added. More are in the works -
but Waterdog Lake, Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, and Bol Park Trail are
the newest additions.
Here are this week's events:
Monday, July 28th at 11:30 am - new time! we'll hike Crissy Field and
Fort Point areas in San Francisco. Meet just outside the front door
to The Warming Hut near the West Bluff Picnic Area at the West end of
Mason Street at 11:30 am. All types of strollers and baby transport
will work, and dogs are welcome. Bring a jacket and hat in case the
fog rolls in! Food can be purchased at The Warming Hut for those
needing lunch. We may play on the beach if the weather is good. For
directions or details about the hike, see Crissy Field and Fort Point
Page
(http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/CrissyField/CrissyField.html). No
shade on this hike, but it's not likely that it will be clear; San
Francisco is often cloudy. Amy will lead this hike with little
Adelina.
Wednesday, July 30th at 10 am at Villa Montalvo. Park in Lot #2 and
meet in front of the Villa. Baby carriers or backpacks are best.
Kristen and little Lillian will lead this hike. Kristen's cell # is
408-410-7200 if you're running late. For information about the area,
see South Bay Hikes Webpage for Villa Montalvo
(http://www.bahiker.com/southbayhikes/montalvo.html) or Santa Clara
County Information on the Park

EP)/attachments/41975montalvo.pdf).
Thursday, July 31st at 9 am Jennifer and her little one will be
leading a hike around Campbell Park and Los Gatos Creek Trail. Meet
by the kiosk by the bridge in Campbell Park, located at the corner of
Gilman Avenue and E Campbell Avenue. The path is entirely paved, so
any baby transport will work. Jennifer comes with over a decade of
experience leading nature hikes, so come ready to learn a little
about the flora and fauna of the area. For directions and more
information about the trail, see the Los Gatos Creek Page
(http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/LosGatosCreek/LosGatosCreek.html).
If you're running late, call Jennifer at (408) 470-0463.
Thursday, July 31st at 4:30 pm let's check out Sweeney Ridge for some
great views. Debbie and Max will lead this hike just a hop North of
San Andreas Trail (North of Crystal Springs) and South of San
Francisco. The trail goes from paved to dirt fire road, so large-
wheeled strollers, joggers, or carriers should work fine. The hike is
exposed, but hopefully we'll get some great views in all directions
from this Golden Gate National Recreation Area! For more information
or directions, see Bay Area Hiker's Page on Sweeney Ridge
(http://www.bahiker.com/southbayhikes/sweeney.html) or The Park
Conservancy's Webpage on Sweeney Ridge
(http://www.parksconservancy.org/visit/park.asp?park=91).
Friday hike has been cancelled.
We'll be having our second annual camping trip this weekend at
Memorial County Park in Loma Mar, near La Honda and Pescadero.
There's still room for any families wanting to come out to join us on
Saturday (to sleep over Saturday night). Also, if you'd like to come
out hiking or catch up with us on a trip to the beach, please let me
know; I'll put together a loose schedule of "outings" for the camping
trip, and other families are welcome to join us, even if you don't
want to camp. If you're joining us on this trip, look forward to an
e-mail about this later today, specifically to these campers.
