Hello Mommies and Daddies!
With Stroller Hike's first board meeting now out of the way, the
Secretary of State is processing our paperwork to (hopefully) grant
us non-profit status. Hoorah! Several of you have asked what you
can do to help. Happily, the jobs are easy - check the website's
hike descriptions for broken links, give me feedback about any
deficiencies of the website (a lot is new!), and attend the weekly
events so we can keep them going.
Max and I enjoyed some wonderful outings this week, including a very
nice trip to the Fitzgerald Marine Preserve at Moss Beach with Amy
and Adelina, with very nice tidepooling and pretty hiking. I plan to
have that new hike description up this week.
Here are this week's events:
Monday, July 21st at 9:30 am we'll hike at John W Christian
Greenbelt. Amy and little Adelina will lead a speed walk / jog along
the lovely wide, paved greenbelt in Sunnyvale and Santa Clara. Dogs
allowed but be sure they can manage on a faster-paced walk/run. Meet
at the pedestrian bridge on Ahwanee Avenue and San Junipero Drive
(the bridge is just NW of San Junipero Dr.). Here is a Mapquest Map
of the Starting Location
(http://www.mapquest.com/maps/Ahwanee+Ave+and+San+Junipero+Dr+Sunnyvale+CA/).
For more information about the trail, see the John W
Christian Greenbelt Webpage
(http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/GreenbeltSunnyvale/GreenbeltSunnyvale.html).
Wednesday, July 23rd at 10 am we'll hike at Rancho San Antonio.
Depending on the needs of the group, we'll do an almost entirely
paved, flat path, or a hilly dirt path. Meet at the upper parking lot
where model airplanes are flown (just past the entrance, turn right,
then left into the first parking area uphill from the lower two). For
more information or directions, see the Rancho San Antonio Page
(http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/RanchoSanAntonio/ranchoSanAntonio.html).
Sorry, dogs not allowed. This hike is at least half shaded.
Kristen and little Lillian will lead this hike. Kristen's cell # is
408-410-7200 if you're running late.
Thursday, July 24th at 4 pm at Calero County Park. Calero County
Park is a lovely, open park with rolling hills in the South Bay. The
trails are generally wide fire roads, so joggers or baby carriers
work best. For information on the area or directions, see Bay Area
Hiker's Webpage on Calero
(http://www.bahiker.com/southbayhikes/calero.html) or The Santa Clara
County Page on Calero

Friday, July 25th at 9 am we'll hike at Rancho San Antonio. Depending
on the needs of the group, we'll do an almost entirely paved, flat
path, or a hilly dirt path, both going to the farm. Meet at the upper
parking lot where model airplanes are flown (just past the entrance,
turn right, then left into the first parking area uphill from the
lower two). For more information or directions, see the Rancho San
Antonio Page
(http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/RanchoSanAntonio/ranchoSanAntonio.html).
Sorry, dogs not allowed. This hike is at least half shaded.
Sharisse and little Chase will lead this hike.
Plan ahead- Amy and Adelina will be leading a trip to Crissy Field in San
Francisco next Monday, and Debbie and Max are coordinating a camping trip at
Memorial County Park for the weekend of August 1st-3rd (families can come for
one or two nights). Reply to this e-mail if you'd like to carpool to Crissy
Field or are interested in camping.
We hope to see you outside!
