Hello Mommies and Daddies!
Mother's Day is fast approaching! Though I'd like to think with
every sweet smile, warm hug, thoughtful gesture, and "thank you" that
every day is Mother's Day, it'll be a treat to be pampered on
Sunday. If you're looking for cool Mother's Day gifts, consider
Blossom Birth Service's Pampering Party
(http://blossombirth.org/pampering_party.html) or some handcrafted /
handgrown gifts at Palo Alto's Gunn High School Fundraiser for
several staff members who will be walking in Susan B. Komen's Race
for the Cure (for Breast Cancer Research) this year; 2-4 pm at Gunn
HS on Sunday.
Here are this week's events:
Monday, May 5th at 9:30 am let's hike at Stevens Creek Trail (Yes,
this is an update due to scheduling conflicts). The hike will begin
from Creekside Park in Mountain View. Diana and little Taeva Rose
will lead the hike. For more information, see Stevens Creek Trail Page
(http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/StevensCreekTrail/StevensCreekTrai
l.html). Feel welcome to linger at the park before and after the hike
for some play and socialization!
Wednesday, May 7th at 11:30 am we'll hike at Windy Hill, meet in the
lot on Alpine Rd, about 1 mile beyond the junction with Portola Rd.
Baby carriers or backpacks are best. Kristen and little Lillian will
lead this hike; Kristen's cell # is 408-410-7200. For more
information or directions, see Windy Hill Page
(http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/WindyHill/WindyHill.html).
Thursday, May 8th at 4 pm we'll hike at Rancho San Antonio. Meet at
the Equestrian Parking Lot (lower lot without bathroom; go downhill
immediately after entrance). For more information or directions, see
the Rancho San Antonio Page
(http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/RanchoSanAntonio/ranchoSanAntonio.
html). Sorry, dogs not allowed. Any type of baby transport works. We
can take the new paved trail from here, past the upper parking areas,
to the farm, and beyond, or if people want more of a workout, we can
try Coyote Trail. Debbie and little Max will lead this hike.
Debbie's cell # is 650-776-1082 if you're running late.
Friday, May 9th at 10:30 am, we'll hike Los Alamitos Creek Trail. The
path is entirely paved, so any strollers or baby transport will work.
We may linger afterwards play in the playground, visit with the
ducks, or have a snack on the nice, green lawn. Meet by the play
ground next to the Bocce Ball Court, near the entrance gate. Dogs are
welcome, and this is a toddler-friendly path that is great for new
tricycle or bicycle riders. For more information or directions, see
the Los Alamitos Page
(http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/LosAlamitos/LosAlamitos.html). Be
sure to follow the directions at the website, as there are two
entrances to the park, and we're meeting at the side that allows
dogs. If they are charging for parking and you don't want to pay,
park along the street just outside the park entrance and walk in.
Susannah and little Indiana will lead this hike. Susannah's cell # is
650-464-8659 if you're running late.
El Camino Medical group is offering their third set of classes for
new parents to encourage healthy family choices including getting
outside to exercise and socialize. StrollerHikes members have
presented at each of the previous class sets. Would anyone like to
present about StrollerHikes at the upcoming class, on May 12th at
10:30 am? I'll provide you with a CD of a PowerPoint presentation
with piles of photos so all you have to do and answer questions. You
can expect to attend the class for about 30 minutes. Please let me
know if you'd like to help by volunteering to present!
