Hello All!
Happy Mother's Day to all of you moms and Mr. Moms out there! Hopefully you've
had a change to indulge, relax, and appreciate your wonderful families. My
favorite part of Mother's Day is the fact that it's not just for me, and instead
is shared with so many other people. We saw a mom holding a baby this morning
and wished her a happy day, and she returned the sentiment. Calls went out to
my mom, stepmom, mother-in-law, and grandmother. And I've extended my
appreciation to the Mr. Mom of my family, who is teaching Max how to wash his
first car (mom's). Here's to all of those folks who have fostered life,
cleaning, primping, feeding, nurturing, educating, and loving. Hoorah for moms!

And an especially loud HOORAH for all of those moms that make Stroller Hikes
possible! That includes the moms who generously lead events, moms who provide
content, feedback, and photos, and moms who use the website and events to learn
more about the Bay Area, nature, parenting, and fitness and fun within families.
If you appreciate all that Stroller Hikes provides, please donate today! A $15
donation will support Stroller Hikes and will promote a mom or Mr. Mom you love.
With every $15 donation, we will post a photo or drawing of a mom you wish to
honor on Stroller Hikes' webpage for one month, including a 200-word-or-less
statement about the mom you love! Send a written description, poem, or other
sentiment to me at admin@... and a photo, and submit your donation
through the Donate button at Stroller Hikes.com. All donations are tax
deductable, and payments are done through secure and efficient PayPal!

Here are this week's events:

Monday, May 11th at 10 am we'll meet at John W Christian Greenbelt. Amy L. and
little Adelina will lead a speed walk / jog along the lovely wide, paved
greenbelt in Sunnyvale and Santa Clara. Dogs allowed but be sure they can manage
on a faster-paced walk/run. We'll take a break around the halfway point for the
trip, to play at the large playground for toddlers, along the greenbelt. Meet at
the pedestrian bridge on Ahwanee Avenue and San Junipero Drive (the bridge is
just NW of San Junipero Dr.). Here is a Mapquest Map of the Starting Location
(http://www.mapquest.com/maps/Ahwanee+Ave+and+San+Junipero+Dr+Sunnyvale+CA/).
For more information about the trail, see the John W Christian Greenbelt Webpage
(http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/GreenbeltSunnyvale/GreenbeltSunnyvale.html).

Tuesday, May 12th at 9 am Loren and little Angelo will lead a mellow stroller
jog around Almaden Lake and down Los Alamitos Trail. Meet at the water dragon by
the big playground near the bathrooms and swimming beach in the main parking lot
near the intersection of Coleman Avenue and Almaden Expressway. No dogs allowed!
Jogging strollers are best, but this is an entirely paved trail, so
smaller-wheeled strollers are also OK. Walkers always welcome! For more
information about the area or directions, see The Los Alamitos Creek Trail
Webpage (http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/LosAlamitos/LosAlamitos.html). If
you're running late, call Loren at 831-227-6737.

Tuesday, May 12th at 1:30 pm Amy B. and her wee ones will lead a hike at
Shoreline Park in Mountain View/Palo Alto. The trail is paved, so it's great for
all strollers or kid carriers. Meet at the lake next to where the sailboats are
kept (to the right of the cafe / bathrooms building) in Shoreline Park. There
are plenty of play structures and a beach for toddlers - we'll stop to play
after the hike! Sorry, no dogs allowed. For information about the park and
directions, see Shoreline Park Page
(http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/Shoreline/Shoreline.html) and Emily
Renzel/Byxbee Page (http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/Byxbee/Byxbee.html). If
you're running late, call Amy at 408-368-7161.

Every Wednesday at 9:45 am we'll hike at Rancho San Antonio in Cupertino/Los
Altos Hills. We'll do an almost entirely paved, flat path going to the farm, and
possibly go past it. The road is perfect for trikes or bikes, if toddlers or
young children want to ride. Any baby transport will work. Meet at the main
lower parking lot at the water fountain in front of the bathrooms(just past the
entrance, turn right, then follow the road until it ends). For more information
or directions, see the Rancho San Antonio Page
(http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/RanchoSanAntonio/ranchoSanAntonio.html).
Sorry, dogs not allowed. This hike is at least half shaded. Lisa and little
Samuel will lead this hike. If you're running late, call Lisa at 650-892-8678.

Thursday, May 14th at 10 am, Jennifer and little Kayla will lead a short hike
and bird watching at Palo Alto Baylands. Meet by Lucy Evans Interpretive Center.
There are wide flat trails here that are paved or dirt, so most strollers should
work fine. Walking children also welcome! For directions or more information
about the area, see The Palo Alto Baylands Page
(http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/PABaylands/PABaylands.html). If you're
running late, call Jennifer at 408-470-0463.

Thursday, May 14th at 4:30 pm we'll meet for a Toddler Trek at Calero County
Park in San Jose. Calero County Park is a lovely, open park with rolling hills
in the South Bay. The trails are generally wide fire roads, so joggers or baby
carriers work best, for non-walking children, but we'll encourage the toddlers
to run or walk themselves. We'll tackle a hill to visit the pond and grasslands
(via Figueroa/Vallecito/Pena/Los Cerritos Trail Loop), or head over to check out
the lake, after visiting with the horses. We'll talk about dragonflies as there
are usually a lot here - they are interesting as they spend half of their lives
in the water. Meet at the parking lot by the ranger's office, across from the
horse grazing area. For information on the area or directions, see Bay Area
Hiker's Webpage on Calero (http://www.bahiker.com/southbayhikes/calero.html) or
The Santa Clara County Page on Calero
(http://www.sccgov.org/portal/site/parks/parksarticle?path=%252Fv7%252FParks%252\

8ba77784010VgnVCM10000048dc4a92____&cpsextcurrchannel=1
). If you're running
late, call Debbie at 650-776-1082. This is a Santa Clara County Healthy Trails
(http://www.parkhere.org/portal/site/parks/) outing.

Enjoy the weather!

-Debbie and little Max
