Schizotypy Online!

This is a group focussed on supporting members with Schizotypal Personality Disorder, sharing experiences, information related to StPD and discuss in a broader sense these things that schizotypals come across in their daily lives.

StPD (an abbreviation of my own to avoid confusion with Schizoid Personality Disorder) is very difficult to diagnose and its symptoms cover a wide range of areas in people's lives.

This list was founded to replace 'schizotypalpdclub' also on Yahoo Groups, which was abandoned by the owner leaving it defenseless against spam.

We hope to welcome old members of that group and make new contacts with people around the world who want to share what they wish.

This group is not intended for anyone other than StPD'ers; given the nature of this condition it is best to avoid causes of paranoia.

People with other mental health disorders may find other places better suited to their particular problems and this place is meant to be a safe haven for schizotypals since there are few places where they can gather on the internet.

What follows below is a 'dry' description that hardly covers the wide range of experiences of schizotypals in real life, for now however this will suffice.

StPD (ICD-10, F21)

A disorder characterized by eccentric behaviour and anomalies of thinking and affect which resemble those seen in schizophrenia, though no definite and characteristic schizophrenic anomalies occur at any stage. The symptoms may include a cold or inappropriate affect; anhedonia; odd or eccentric behaviour; a tendency to social withdrawal; paranoid or bizarre ideas not amounting to true delusions; obsessive ruminations; thought disorder and perceptual disturbances; occasional transient quasi-psychotic episodes with intense illusions, auditory or other hallucinations, and delusion-like ideas, usually occurring without external provocation. There is no definite onset and evolution and course are usually those of a personality disorder.
