Tips are Handed Over to Chinmoy by Owners of Restaurants   Message List
Reply Message #23 of 203 |
I was always under the impression that the tips I left at any of the
Sri Chimmoy (called "Divine Enterprises") restaurants were for the
wait staff. It was common knowledge that the workers at these places
were underpaid and overworked. The last time I ate at one of his
places, a woman working there was so sick I was afraid that she was
about to literally collapse. I couldn't understand why any business
would let someone work in that condition.
I always tipped larger than usual because of this. Now I find out
that all the tips go right into Chinmoy Ghose's pockets. This is
untaxed cash income for him.
How many years has he been skimming off the top and not paying taxes
on this income? How long has he been in the USA? 39 years of taking
waitress's tip money on a daily basis...every dollar adds up. ($10
per day, $300 per month would be $3600. For 39 years that would be
$140,400. That's only ONE restaurant.)

This is against Federal Laws regarding tipping. Those tips are yours
and no one else's.
You can also put in a claim for unpaid back wages since you were not
paid minimum wage.($5.15 per hour "The Fair Labor Standards Act")
Imagine not even getting a minimum wage yet the guru, Chinmoy, and
his yes-people, zombie slaves take luxury vacations and live a very
high lifestyle, clothes, cars, exotic trips to third world locations.
Is this why these people are superior to everyone else in the Chinmoy
hierarchy? Why are these inner circle people entitled to material
goods but no one else is?
If you worked at any of his restuarants or business in the United
States and did not get overtime pay after 40 hours, you can put in a
claim with the Department of Labor for your state, for Unpaid
Overtime Pay.
