Regarding the mouth sores-it helps to take folic acid along with the mtx, which
reduces or eliminates the sores for many people.

In higher doses, methotrexate is used to treat cancer. I do not have any handy
information that indicates mtx causes cancer.

On Enbrel and methotrexate and I'm noticing that I'm getting
frequent skin infections.

I take methotrexate also. In doing research on it,it says it can cause cancer.
But there in another that is not used for cancer patients. Am I being stupid in
asking if the one I'm taking is the one that causes cancer. My Dr. never said
this was a side effect. I take 6, 2.5mg once a week.Which he upped to 8 as that
didn't seem to help. I'm waiting to see if insurance will ok for me to take the
Enbrel shots once a week. Yes I did have a lot of canker sores in my mouth,
which I was supposed to swish Nystatin (SP) 3 x's a day then swallow. That was
so gross I about threw up every time. So I never swallowed it.Thanks for
anyone's help in advance.
