Re: [Spinalcordinjury] hello there

Michael waht country are you living in? I also had a car crash in 2001, my level is t-12. although I did regain feeling in my left leg and some in my left, I can only move my left leg. It went from moving it from side to side to being able to lift it straight out and hold it for a few minutes at a time. I can walk with a long leg brace on my right leg but it takes so much energy I only walk at home with my walker. I had physical therapy up til last spring now I just excercise at home. I was pretty lucky to have resources here where I live to have a good rehab.  Anyway, I would say just excercise and try to stay in shape. don't sit around and wait on a cure but move forward with your life and think about all the things you can do, not the things you can't. I agree with you, I work with a guy who's been a quad for 20years and even he said in the research he's done that there's a lot of alternative things their doing now in some countries and there's a documetary on tv with actual patients and he says in a few years if you have the money there will be things out there that perhaps could help you walk.  It took time but I finally found happiness in my life with my disability so If theres something out there and I think its worth it good if not then I life still goes on.

hello everyone, not very sure what to write here. Well i guess first
things first. My names michael, 24, male. I happened to stumble on
this site/group quite by chance and to say the truth it's quite
amazing to find out that the things i've been going through all
along is nothing new -the spasms, jerkings, crazy burning
sensations, sleeplessness, etc... well in any case i know there aint
nothing new under the sun, i guess it has a better feeling to it
when you actually know or communicate with someone in like
situations. I have read the various postings being put up and i'm
glad i found this group.
I had an auto crash back in 2001 and had an injury at T10 as well as
internal injuries. Now unfortunately for me i come from and live in
a 3rd  world country where the medical facility is zero or less, and
at such the doctors couldn't do much for me, so much that they were
not even united in their prognosis. It ranged from full to partial
transection, then along the line another group comes and says it was
just spinal shock. Well this is almost 3 yrs later and i'm still
here, there have been improvements though, such as better balance
while sitting, some degree of sensation in my right leg and perhaps
a few others, and this all came about from no medical help
whatsoever. I guess i can only be grateful to God and i do have this
firm belief that i will walk again- with or without medical help,
though i have a feeling it would be the latter. And i'm sure somehow
we all will get there, SOMEDAY.
One difficulty i'm having in following through with discussions in
here is the various terminologies you'll use in here, so i hope
someone out there would be so kind as to put me through some of the
comonest ones used. I'm sure somehow i'll know a lot of them b'cos
i'm sure i experience them as well, but it's just  i'm not familiar
with a lot of terms.
Well i did say i wasn't sure what to say, i guess i just felt the
need to say something, and since i've said it i'll be off then. So
folks do keep your heads up wiil ya- though i'm not sure how much or
often i do that.... Later
