Thanks Matt, I was so confused. I really did not know what kind of doctor I saw. I had an appointment set up for yesterday with an M.D., but due to severe winter weather conditions, their office had to cancel. You know, I quit drinking because the doctors warned me about mixing my pain meds and alcohol. I have always been worried that I would do something to mess up the effectiveness of my pain meds. I don't know how much more pain I can deal with. I just may need to drink myself into a stupor just so I don't feel the intensity of the pain. On a scale of 1 to 10, I at a 6 today, but have been ranging an 8 or 9. I try to not say 10. I figure that is when I would hopefully pass out or something like that.
Candle
May there always be a light to guide you.

I can only answer one of the questions. Yes, a DO is as much a licensed physician as an MD. S/He's a Doctor of Osteopathy, or Osteopathic Medicine -- an Osteopath. I used to have one as my regular doc. DO's take the less-travelled fork of medical training. The chiropractic-type chair you saw is there because DO's practice manipulation of both bones & soft tissue, without the violence of the Chiropractor. They're supposed to be able to deal with issues that way, rather than always prescribing medication. As you may imagine, people more interested in holistic methods are more likely to take the DO route in med-school. As such, they'll vary as to what methods they prefer. The one I used was very balanced in her approach. But there are kooks in every field. On the west side of my city [Indianapolis], there's even a whole Osteopathic hospital -- Westview.
Obviously, you need pain drugs. I can't believe, as a DO, he didn't give you meds, & then try to convince you to see if some other therapy might help wean you off them, or partially off them. It seems like that would've been his mission. I hope You get to a sane physician soon.
Matt
