trial and error is the best way.  i did mine while standing - folded it up with one hand and jerked it into the back seat before i sat down.   i've seen a para transfer up into his bronco and pull his chair in over his lap and set it in the passenger seat.  now i've gone electric with a ramp van so it's another whole story.
