Thank you Michael. Your story is definately an inspiration for me to get it done. I will contact my GP and go from there. I have been looking at my brand new van sitting in the driveway for over a month now and have been unable to get in it.As the weather get's worse I am starting to get real impatient. Once the EZ-CHAIR is installed I am going to follow your lead and just experiment with different methods of getting the chair in.
Good luck to you.

Your doctor should be able to give you correct people to talk to for the driving. Call a local rehab hospital or call the BMV directly and they should be able to direct you. My doctor sent me to a local rehab hospital for the driving. Your doctor will have to clear it I think.Well, with getting the chair in the car it is a trial and error thing. I drive a jeep grande cherokee and put the wheels and the chair in the backseat. I lean my seat all the way back, pull my chair up to me horizantally (side of wheel facing up) take one wheel off, put it in behind the front seat, spin the chair in air to get to the other wheel and put it in the back. I then pull the chair across my chest and put it in the backseat. I basically taught myself, I had seen it done on a video when in rehab hospital. Once I got the ok to drive again, (they told me I could not drive my jeep because I would not be able to get the chair in), my dad was in the garage and I told him that I was going to figure out how to get the chair in the jeep and to come running if he heard me yelling or heard the horn honk. He came running only to see me with a big smile. It took some trial and error but the rest is history.

body strength and I have recently purchased a Honda Odyssey. I am at
present awaiting installation of an EZ-RIDER chair which should enable
me to gain access to my van, however I have a few questions that I
cannot get answers to. Firstly, I am not sure how I am going to get my
wheelchair into the van? I suppose that there must be a way to lift it
into the passenger area in the back but I would appreciate advice on
this. Secondly, I have been unable to find any information on driving
lessons and requirements in my State (MD). What do I need to do to get
back on the road?
Thank you
