Dangerous is right! My husband was told that if I fell to never "pick me up" but to give a hand or arm and let me pull myself up. The theory behind that being if I started to hurt that I would stop pulling and stop any potential harm to myself. He might not understand that I was hurting and would keep pulling until I damaged more nerves.
I also wish that I had a polite way to decline. I thought that I was prepared after the buffet incident, but this was new and I again didn't know what to say.

At first this would appear to be
extremely kind but, after a while I realized that it was quite
annoying and sometimes downright dangerous. My problem is finding a
way to politely decline the good samaritans offer of kindness without
appearing to be ungrateful or rude? Anyway Happy Holidays to all and
may we all reach a happy conclusion to our "temporary inconvenience"
