Re: [Spinalcordinjury] Does anyone know the life expectancy for SCI?
For some odd reasons and docs don't know why I have always had use of my arms, which they tell me I shouldn't , who knows. Anyway, yes as you stated we are in chairs for duration and I look at it like this, we make our own happiness or misery. You can go on and make a life for yourself, whatever it may be, or drop out of life and just sit there, but your brain will lead you to whatever it feels you can handle. Ok, not one to get into all this, supper time, hope all have a nice weekend. Later, Theresa in Louisiana REASON TO BELIEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! song by : Rod Stewart

At the c3 level, quads function similar to Chris Reeve if the cord was completely severed. Anything more means it wasn't a complete break. I know - bfd, we're still in chair for the duration.

Hi All, I have been a para since 1974, not sure if complete or not , was never explained in those days, and just never think about it. My neck was broken at c-3, 4 , & 5, my back was broken at t-2 & 3. I have a very full life, my kids are all grown now I enjoy the love of doing for and with my grandkids, have 4. I had 2 kids after accident, so life does go on, although it wasn't always easy wouldn't trade places with anyone, also had 3 year old at the time of accident. I don't know why anyone would wonder how long we live, just live. Sure I'll get some slack for that, but that's just my opinion. Later to all and to all moms HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Theresa in Louisiana

Hello Candle,
I am 57 and I am a c3-4 incomplete post 17 yr. and I plan to live a great life till the end comes. I live each day to the best ability I can and don't worry about when or how it stops.
Life is to short to worry about how long you live, just enjoy the life you live.

Does anyone know the life expectancy for people with SCI? Someone made a comment that they thought out life expectancy was shorter because of the trauma and how our bodies deal with it. Does anyone know how I can find out?
