I am a 24 year old USMC wife. I have 2 kids. My daughter just turned 6 and my
son is 8 1/2 months old. I need to lose quit a bit of weight and I ha ve been on
the diet for almost 3 weeks now and have lost 9-10 pounds. Im hoping to continue
and lose alot more.
I agree...When I followed a 1800 calorie diet and only exercised a couple of
times the first week...I lost 4 pounds...the second week...I did the diest
everyday and exercised 4 times that week....lost another 8 pounds..so the pounds
do come off faster sometimes...by the end of that month though I had lost a
couple of inches everywhere....
18 pounds? that's is awesome are you exercising too or just following the diet?? I'm still not on the diet, but I'll be starting it soon or ill probably try the abs diet for women. Somebody mentioned it here and it sounds like it would work especially cuz my metabolism is too slow, i think eating small amounts of food every 2 hours would help it go faster... I need motivation to start though cuz i been trying and i just cant keep up with it.. what do u recommend??
I'm in TOTAL agreement with every suggestion and advice you've been providing.....thank you for enlightening everyone in this group as to what's healthy and what's not. It's all in reading the Nutrition Facts provided to us on most every package of food we eat, learning healthy habits and that it's okay to eat something "bad" for us once in a while. Stay away from anything WHITE, anything ARTIFICIAL ! Your body will love you for it !!
Haha... well, that might be true, regarding disolving nails
and probably the fender of an old Buick... but I only know
what I know when the tooth from my 7-year old upper jaw,
sitting in Coke for a while - did not disappear because my
mother thought it was a stupid experiment. She was the one
who told me to put it there, after the Tooth Fairy was
done, of course.

Ya! Nutrasweet is not good for you...
I wrote about Zingers... read that. Zingers are flavored
by Stevia...a natural sweetner, and are in Green Tea.. also
good for you.
Another sweetner that is natural is agave..from cactus-like
plants, both FDA approved now.
Take THAT, Crystal Lite!

Hey guys,
Well I am on my third day and I haven't weighed my self yet , but I feel
different. I walk a mile and a half everyday and have been following this diet
as best as I can and I actually feel good! I know it has only been three days,
but I can feel a difference in the amount of energy I have now. My goal is to
lose 25 pounds so I hope I make it =)
Well, now, it might be convenient and all that, but it
STILL contains Nutrasweet, and that over time will cause
problems for most heavy drinkers, as I have always said
(and I get a lot of nodding heads in this blog are finally
agreeing with me on that).
I found something today I am going to try...and you might
too.
Celestial Seasonings has come out with a new product -
Zingers.
Packaged like a juice drink for kids (in a box) .. it is a
flavored green tea to which you just add water and shake.
Not only that, it is natural, is herbal, and one contains
blueberries (lot of antioxidents there): I REALLY like my
Red Zinger Tea...they make... so why not? the ingredients:
"Celestial Seasonings Zingers To Go are an easy and
delicious all-natural way to get your daily eight glasses
of water. Just grab a packet, add to water and drink in the
healthful goodness! Green Tea Zingers To Go are made with
the finest 100% green tea, an excellent source of
antioxidants to help you maintain good health naturally.
With no artificial ingredients and the natural sweetness of
Stevia--an herb with no calories--your taste buds and your
body will thank you. Blueberry Splash™ Green Tea--The taste
of juicy blueberries paired with delicate green tea in
Blueberry Splash Zingers To Go adds bushels of flavorful
delight to your water. Feel the healthful refreshment wash
over you with every delicious sip."
Ha..you might think I am selling the stuff! I like what I
read and I am gonna try it today. You decide for yourself
if this might be better for you than Crystal Lite...ya?
Good Luck!

Kamichi, good for you for giving up coke..almost. Two-3 a day is a LOT...and I wanted to know if your doctors ever told you that consuming that much coke CONTRIBUTED to your becoming diabetic? My x-wifes aunts second husband (I guess you did not need to know all that, eh?...lol) used to consume a LOT of beer, and was told that it would soon enough take him out via liver sirosis...so he quit beer and SWITCHED to coke! Harmless, yes? Actually NO. After he began to drink a LOT of coke... he became diabetic and finally died.
The result? A LOTTA coke is definitely not good for anyone's body.
If you need fizz...can't you drink carbonated water like Vintage? Flavor it with mint or lemon juice or something... I drink that with cranberry juice and it satisfies my fizz requirements.
I like your mint-to-water connection. I shall have
to try that...which mint, tho?

It was very VERY difficult for me to give up Coke (the cola) four years ago, but I had gotten up to 2-3 per day and it was killing me. I'm Diabetic now, so I only have a coke every now and again. If I absolutely have to have something with fizz in it, I have a Diet Coke. I drink a lot of water. And if I feel like I'm falling short in that area, I pop a mint in my mouth, which makes me crave a tall glass of water. That way I can meet my daily goal...

Denise,
Having been around this board fro a while, I can tell you that almost everybody
has hit a plateau at one point or another, myself included. After a short time,
the weight starts coming off again so just stick with it and don't be
discouraged.
Stay strong,

I just started the challenge on Monday and I am having trouble just eating a
protein bar for lunch. So far I have been eating a large cup of soup and a
protein bar just so that I can stay full until I make it home for dinner around
7:20 on the nights that I have school. Is anyone finding this hard as well?
yes i just started last week and have lost 18 pounds my goal is to lose 65 more! dont be discouraged! you can do it when times get rough you get tough and push thru you can and will succeed!
When i first started losing the weight it was coming off at almost a pound a day
and now i feel like i have been at the same weight for like almost two weeks! Is
anyone else having this problem??
Hello...I'm 25 years old, 5'4" and I need to lose 15-20 lbs.
I tried the Special K diet once before when they only had the cereal, and I
found it very hard to stick to...so now that they added bars and waffles (yummy)
I thought I'd give it another try.
Started 4 days ago, I'm giving myself 2 wks to loose 5lbs hopefully...well
see...
Hello this is my first time ever trying a diet. I decided that it was time for
me to lose some weight. I want to start off with a few pounds and then progress
from there. I am 25 and have always had some extra baggage. I don't want to be
supper skinny, but I want to be at a nice healthy weight that makes me feel good
about myself. My problem is that I love food and I am talking about the
cheesy/extra meaty kind of food. I hope this will help me change my eating
habits along with making me live a healthier lifestyle. I have trouble finding
time to exercise/go to the gym, because I work full time and I attend college at
night time. I am currently trying dvd yoga, it does feel like I am actually
working out. If anyone has any good ideas for other exercises I can do at home
or good recipes please let me know.
I totally agree!!! All I have to say is this, everything in moderation is fine
for you!! If coke and diet pops/sodas were so terribly bad for you then they
would not be approved for consumption and be on the shelves for all of us to
buy! If that is all you are doing is drinking diet pop or regular pop as your
daily liquid intake then yes it may or will have some long term effects!! It's
just like saying dark chocolate is good for you but if you eat it all day and
every day there will be some harmful effects to your health, obviously not to
mention your weight!! We all enjoy a good hamburger now and then, but if you
eat it all the time we get the movie "Supersize It" (I think that's the title)
I had a friend who joined one of those weight loss franchises and she was
allowed 2 diet sodas a week for a treat if she wanted ( she lost her desired
weight ) So like I said everthing in moderation is good, too much of a good
thing is not good!
Hello! friends you don't have to discourage about losing weigth, what you have to do is to sit tight and think of it if it is good for your health, you can now proceeds.
I wish best of luck and good success at the end.
I suggested that you can be taking coke just one in while, it is just for
refreshment
Water is good to the body and it make you healthy, early in the morning when you
take water you feel good all the rest of the day
I lost 13 lbs. in two weeks, but just like melanie said...I weighed 227 to start
with, so I obviously have a lot to loose and would start out at a faster pace
than someone only having to lose 20lbs would. The fact that you do or do not
exercise could make a difference as well as the foods you eat. Besides the fact
that everyone is different. Don't get discouraged, everyone loses weight at a
different pace.
~Dee~
Welcome to the group Denise! I can relate to starting a diet and quitting
before you reach your goals. I've tried more diets than I care to admit. I've
only been on the diet for two weeks, but I have to say that it's different than
any other diet I've been on. I find it much easier to follow and I don't feel
hungry. If you need a buddy to support you along the way, just drop me a line.

some of us have alot more than 20 to lose and when you are super fluffy sometimes the lbs come off alot faster the first few weeks i lost 14 in three weeks iwasalso over 300 so i am sure you see the difference someone that is only 20 lbs overweight is not likely to lose weight as fast as some that is 150 lbs overweight
have you ever left a cup of coke out for a day or two it will start eating the paper of the cup it will eat a ring in the paper at the level the coke is at i am talking about regular coke
