Hi - Congratulations on losing 10 lbs. - I would really like to lose
10 lbs. but can't seem to make it happen. I have been on the diet for
2 weeks and I might have lost 3 pounds but really my weight fluctuates
a few pounds anyway so I'm not really too excited. I have never had
to diet before but 10 lbs have somehow made there way over the last 5
or 6 years and I don't like it! I can't seem to get it off though.
I'm following the Special K Diet really well during the day and
drinking lots of water but the dinner hour I haven't really done
anything differently. I eat normal dinners so maybe I should cut back
on my portions. Any suggestions?

Hello to all my fellow BIG LOSERS! (Don't get me wrong. I am taking
this class like the tv show called the big loser at a local rec
center and we are trying to lose weight, so our goal is to try to be
a BIG LOSER--of weight that is! :-])

I wanted to inform of my progress.

Here are my statistics:
152.2 lbs. on January 4, 2007
5 ft. 1 in.
(I am overweight according to charts, because of my height). My
ideal and healthy weight is 125-130 lbs.

After weigh-in during class last night, I was at 148.6. I was so
happy! I lost 2.2% of my weight, but I still have AT LEAST 20 lbs.
to go. I know it's been slow, and it's going to slowly go down, but
please know that although I use the Special K products to help me
eat healthier, I have not necessarily followed along to having
special k for breakfast and for dinner and having a normal lunch
every day for 2 weeks. So I am not discouraged. I have also
exercised at least 5 days a week, 30 minutes + abs on 3 days and the
2 days that I am in class, it's for 1 hr. + abs. I try not to eat
past 9pm (I go to bed at the earliest at 1am--hence the slow weight
loss progress--I don't sleep well, but my busy schedule causes me to
sleep that late and go to work the next). Whenever I have dinner,
specially during the week, it's a bowl of vanilla almond Special K
cereal, but sometimes for breakfast I have whole wheat nutri grain
waffles from Eggo with sugar free low-cal syrup. I use the special k
chips and bars as snacks and they are filling. I eat something every
2-3 hrs. Breakfast-snack-Lunch-snack-Dinner.

Thanks for "listening." Good luck to you all and wish me luck for
faster and better progress at the end of March! :-]

Hi Terri, just a suggestion! I learned in a class that for people
with joint problems or arthritis, water aerobics and even just plain
swimming is a great exercise. Try to find an indoor pool in your
area at a recreation center or something. Then, once you lose some
weight, you won't hurt as much walking. You might want to try some
other exercises such as playing racquetball, tennis, or bicycling
around the block (if that doesn't make your hip hurt so much). GOOD
LUCK!
-Rosa

Hello everyone,

I would like to know how long do you stay on the plan for? What has
everyone been doing. I went on the plan for 2 weeks and I don't know if
I lost anything. I am going to start again next week. I am just
maintaining my weight this week. Right now I am shooting for 15 pounds.
5 pounds at a time. And I work out like crazy! Any suggestions? Also I
work midnight shift as a dispatcher. Not sure if that is not helping. I
eat healthy but..... any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi,
Why are weekends a problem? Do you tend to eat too much? If you are
counting calories, stick to veggies and fruits, low fat and low sugar...a
calorie is a calorie.

Terri,

There are a few of us Garden Staters in this group...good to know you.

I too, have pretty bad osteoarthritis, and have already had bi-lateral
hip replacement to repair the damage. The cold weather isn't helping me
either. I am finding that as I lose the pounds, the pain is somewhat
lessened, and logically it makes sense. The less you have to carry
around, the less stress on the joints.

As for exercise, I find that the low and no-impact kinds of activities
work best for me. I have a stationary bike that I have just started
getting back on and in the past when I had a gym membership, I used the
Stairmaster 4 days a week. After about four months of that, I found I
was able to do a lot more walking with no pain at all. Building up
those leg muscles gently but consistently worked for me.

With no exercise at all, I have been able to lose weight on the Special
K program. Now that I am exercising again, I expect the results to be
even better. In two months I have lost over 14 pounds just by zealously
sticking to the plan. If this Jersey boy can do it, then any Jersey
girl can too.

Stay strong.

Bart

To all who are on the Special K Diet:

How many days after starting the diet did you begin to see results? My
First day was today, and I must admit...it wasn't as easy as I thought,
but I'm proud of myself.

I am 21 yrs old I weigh 201 Lbs. I am starting the special K diet
tomarrow. I am an emotional eater. I just moved to Texas from Colorado
away from my family, and my Husband. We have been married for almost 8
months. I should add happily married. We decided to move to Texas, But
we still have 5months left on the lease and do not have the money to
brake the lease, so I am the one that went early ( I am living with my
father-in-law)to look for a job and get money to get our own place. I
have tried to diet in the past but have failed because of being an
emotional eater. Anyway, I heard it was good to keep a journal of my
feelings and seek advice so I am killing two birds with one stone.

I just started the challenge this morning and was delighted when I
heard what I thought was bran cereal, popping like a bowl of rice
crispies! Then I realized that they WERE made of rice. It was
suprisingly good, even without the spoonful of sugar that I'm used to.
I'm a cereal eater from way back, so I'm really crossing my fingers on
this challenge. I might actually lose some weight like this!

Hi,

I tried the Special K challenge last year and it worked but I didn't
stay focused. I am going to do it again but this time I have a goal to
lose 30 pounds before my nieces wedding. Before I was able to log in
and track what I ate and exercise. I am having difficulty finding this
again. Can anyone help me. I always liked to be able to see how many
calories I burned doing different activites.

Chelsea,

As I have admitted in previous posts, I chew a lot of gum. If I am
not eating or drinking, I am chewing gum. Driving to work, after
breakfast, after lunch and after dinner. It's helped me a lot, and I
have been chewing the Trident White lately as there is a good variety
of flavors, it's sugar free and it's supposed to help whiten your
teeth, although I have not noticed that. Also, the company I work for
was making the stuff so I was getting it for very cheap.

Try it, it may help you too.

Stay strong,

Bart
