You ask him nicely to not eat it in front of you and keep it where you don't see it.  Men are pretty fortunate to have no problem losing weight.  It's us women that have it tougher our metabolisms are different.

If you are not changing your habits then that means you are not really
serious about losing weight.   You have to take the first step and throw
away all the bad foods and just don't buy any more.  Replace with fruits and
veggies.  and water.   Get rid of any soda , period , none of it is very
good for you.  Remember we can't do it for you, you have to want to do it.
find an alternative food that is healthful like I mentioned.    No it isn't
easy to make change but if you really want this you can make it happen.
Take one day at a time.

It truly isn't nice to  have OCD  ,  There are many different OCD'S  and none of them are nice.  they make us a prisoner.   I personally have a problem with checking the doors many times to make sure it's closed and locked.  it is a  hard habit to break .  So and eating disorder is just as tough.   Sometimes the antidepressants can cause us to eat more too ( one of the side effects) but if the pill helps whatever problem it is then we have to learn to overcome its negative effects.
And certain meds can add to weight gain as well.   But with help you will overcome any problems and in time can change for the better.

I am so glad that someone realizing that not only is drugs and alcohol additive but food is as well. I need the help I can get. It's not all about will power its about lacking and needing something or someone. If anyone ever suffered from OBCESSIVE COMPULSIVE BEHAVIOR they are linked. I don't much about it yet but I am starting to work with a physcologist and that is what she said. I did suffer from OCD during my pregnancy and it was horrible. I agree, encouragement is a must when one is dieting it is hard enough to try to keep the weight off or even lose it so possitive talk is a better way to get one to work at it harder.

Thanks to everyone who replied for the great tips and encouragement.  I can't take Aleve, I have tried it.  My son is 25 and does not need watching.  He does have a job but only 2 nights a week.  He also has arthritis (started at 21) and must go in for infusions every month.  Because of the type he has he probably will never work full time.  He does need to lose weight and not watch so much TV but we do not have reception and all he can watch are movies or TV shows on DVD.  We live out in the country with lots of old tall trees.  As for the walking I try but right now in Minnesota I leave home in the dark to go to work and come home just about at dark.  I do not like to walk in the dark.

Sounds like you have an issue with sugar. This kind of "sugar" can be linked
to "depression, sadness"
what mood are you in when you eat the junk?
One thing that helps is being aware that your body needs good energy to
function and junk food doesn't provide it.
Here's a smoothie for you to try to help with the sugar fix:

1 cup carrot juice
1 cup pure unsweetened orange juice
1/4 cup of raw unsalted cashews
6 ice cubes

Crush the cashews in the blender until they are a very fine powder
Add 3 ice cubes and blend again
Add carrot juice and orange juice with remaining ice cubes
Enjoy

The fat from the cashews is a great source of energy and it keep you full
for a bit

what kinds of things do you buy for groceries currently, I'll help you replace
the unhealthy choices. It's cheaper to buy healthy foods, flax seeds, oatmeal,
bulgar, granola are usually under $5
Let me know if you want the suggestions, I suppose we're all near to a Wal Mart?
I'm in Canada but I can still offer healthier food choices for you.

you need to incorporate:
inflammation fighting foods in your diet to help with the fibromyalgia: flax
oil; it contains Omega 3 which helps in the reduction of inflammation. Put
it on your salads. Other oils are high in Omega 6 which increase
inflammation.

Hi Alex,
I'm very sorry for your tragic loss and in the same sentence congratulations on your beautiful baby.
I strongly suggest that you seek grief counselling so that you can manage the loss because right now you're counseling yourself with food and that will catch up to you. I'm not sure what your financial situation is but I'm sure there has to be a gov't funded support system to help you through the grief process. Even a Chaplin at your local hospital.
Some other practical things that you can do here is to monitor your portions, read the back of the food label as they tell you the "suggested" serving size, incorporate whole grains (spelt, millet, flax seeds etc) into your food intake, breast feeding is one of the best ways to lose weight as it requires so much energy to produce milk, 500 extra calories daily to be exact and it keeps you at a balance. I'm still breast feeding and have lost pretty much all of the weight.
Hope this helps
Angela

Hi Alex,

Sorry to hear about your mom and congrats on your new baby. It is great that you want to lose weight. If you cannot seem to stop eating, how about replacing the chips and pizza (or whatever you may be eating) with lots and lots of fruits, vegetables, and water. It will be tough at first but after a few days you will possibly be craving the fruits and vegetables. Let me know how it goes. I am trying to do the same.

Here's a tidbit for you to help you out, we function in 1 of 4 places:
unconscious incompetence: you see something and you automatically go "I can do that"

conscious incompetence: you've tried to "do it" and realize it's going to take some work

conscious competence: you're doing it but you walk yourself through each step

unconscious competence: you do it without thought. This is where healthy eating will just become second nature to you after much practice. Trust me I know!

It helps to know where you are in the four so that you can get some confidence. One other thing I want to show you is the ADKAR Exercise:

Awareness: you know that something needs to change, if the light doesn't "turn on" then you don't know a change needs to happen

Desire: you don't like where you're at and so you want things to change

Knowledge: you need to know how to change and that's where doing your research and due diligence comes in

Ability: you will gain this ability from the knowledge, don't confuse it though, it's like if you're blind can you drive even though you acquire the knowledge? hope that makes sense!

Reinforcement: you want to retain the change that you've worked hard to accomplish. This is essential to your success because if you don't keep seeing the results you tend to "fall back" into the old way of doing things.

I know this seems like a lot but it's important to maintaining your healthy lifestyle because you're going to continually come across people who are not supportive just surround yourself, just like you're doing on here with people who give you positive reinforcement.

Angela

That reminds me my son was always obese as a child,(weighed 9.12lbswhen born) then as he became a senior in high-school. He decided to lose weight.  He did grow up seeing me trying to get fit for many years.

He drank about 1 gal of water a day or more, and well ate    doritos.LOL
But he worked out hard in a little area in his room daily,he lost 100 lbs in one year
That was 6years ago and he still keeps it off
I said how did you do it,he told me Stop thinking about food so much,.lol

it is very difficult to have someone go against what you're trying to do and
with money being tight you can't throw it away and replace.
My suggestion would be to put it in the back of the fridge so that it doesn
t stare you in the face, out of sight out of mind.
Try to make different foods that will entice the entire household. Is your
husband being supportive of your weight loss goals?

I agree, encouragement is a must when one is dieting it is hard enough to try to keep the weight off or even lose it so possitive talk is a better way to get one to work at it harder.

sorry to say this but that is rather mean or of us have had a struggle at one time or the other.  The best way to do it is to fill yourself with healthy foods such that there is no room for the junk and slowly by slowly you will get rid of the junk.  Just make sure you take alot of water too.

You either learn to eat differently and get skinny. Or you stay fat and eat your junk. sounds like your not ready to change and until you r. Tese are the problems you are going to run in to. Sorry to sound mean.but this is the way it is.

possitive talk is a great influence,  we can all work at the good goals in life,  improving it is well worth it.  and having a web site where there is alot of good info is wonderful.
Enjoy the warm weather.  Its starting to get really cold here now.  and winter hasn't even come yet.  Thats okay, we'll have to move more  to keep warm and possibly burn a few more calories in the process.

you need to incorporate:
inflammation fighting foods in your diet to help with the fibromyalgia: flax
oil; it contains Omega 3 which helps in the reduction of inflammation. Put
it on your salads. Other oils are high in Omega 6 which increase
inflammation.

Hi Everyone!

I am new to this group but not to the weight loss world. I am currently
losing the rest of the baby weight I had gained from my twins and am almost
their. I am looking forward to hearing everyones success stories and
helping others get to their goal weight. I am a firm believer in exercise
as well as eatting better. It is so easy to count calories but if you don't
get your body moving then not much will change.

Sounds like you have an issue with sugar. This kind of "sugar" can be linked
to "depression, sadness"
what mood are you in when you eat the junk?
One thing that helps is being aware that your body needs good energy to
function and junk food doesn't provide it.
Here's a smoothie for you to try to help with the sugar fix:

1 cup carrot juice
1 cup pure unsweetened orange juice
1/4 cup of raw unsalted cashews
6 ice cubes

Crush the cashews in the blender until they are a very fine powder
Add 3 ice cubes and blend again
Add carrot juice and orange juice with remaining ice cubes
Enjoy

The fat from the cashews is a great source of energy and it keep you full
for a bit

Thanks to everyone who replied for the great tips and encouragement. I can't
take Aleve, I have tried it. My son is 25 and does not need watching. He does
have a job but only 2 nights a week. He also has arthritis (started at 21) and
must go in for infusions every month. Because of the type he has he probably
will never work full time. He does need to lose weight and not watch so much TV
but we do not have reception and all he can watch are movies or TV shows on DVD.
We live out in the country with lots of old tall trees. As for the walking I
try but right now in Minnesota I leave home in the dark to go to work and come
home just about at dark. I do not like to walk in the dark.
