Hey Dana (and everyone else)

I wanted to know if you were having issues staying on track at all. With a busy
college schedule during the day, I barely have time to think let alone eat *but
I do eat the requirements of the plan through our the day* however, being up
late at night studying I will have no more allowances for special k snacks and I
have major cravings for chocolate. Now, whenever these happen during the day I
will have the the special K bar with the chocolate on it (yummy!). But at night
these cravings get to me... and I've given in already 2 nights!

Please help! I know the sacrifices now are worth it for the long term goals, but
I am a person who really has to either see the results now or have motivation or
I just have the mind set of, 'awe, what the heck,' and blow it all!

I really want to lose at least 40, if not 60 pounds by my 20th birthday
(December 11) because I will be visiting friends and relatives for the holidays!

Anyone, everyone... please help with the motivation!

Thank you in advance and best luck with weight loss and maintenance!
-Jenn

and weigh an unfortunate 186 pounds. I am 19 years old and in college pursuing a
career in Nursing. When I was 15/16 years old I had the body I was happy with...
then time changes, breakup and make ups happen and you find yourself a whopping
60lbs unhappier. My ultimate goal would be to get to at least 125. With my bone
structure it is safe and possible... but seems almost impossible.

I am going to TRY and start this program again, I only need to lose 3-4 lbs. This program is SO hard because the bars are so good, it’s hard to stop at one! Seriously, any advice? And hasn’t Kellogg come out with new stuff? Just wondering!

I have found something fun and easy! There is a show on TV called "Cook yourself
Thin". I tape them so that I can watch and rewatch a recipe. It's so motivating!
They just change a few ingredients in popular every day food and its amazing how
many calories it cuts! I found their cookbook at Costco and am having fun with
it. I let my family help "judge" how they are. Some are wonderful and there area
a few that are ugh! I guess its a matter of taste! Doing this is a lot less
boring and most dishes are fairly fast to make.

I agree with some of your answer to Deborah and you need to ask yourself "How
bad do I want this?" And it is easy to get caught up in excuses...however, I
think to help yourself along, you have to find a way to exercise that will
encourage you. Betsy plan is great and ideal but not for everyone. It may come
in time for Deborah but first she has to find something that will truly motivate
her IMO. Do you like to swim? Try a water-exercise class (and no, everyone isn't
a size 4!) or just swim laps at a local gym. Walking is great this time of year.
Start out with 30 minutes then add some. Make it fun - listen to music or the
radio. (OR if you are crafty, make it a constant search to find a beautiful
leaf, acorn, pine cone, etc. that you can add to your autumn basket.) Get walk
tapes that encourage you. Whatever your exercise you choose, set small goals
("this week I'll walk 30 minutes for 3 days, next week I'll do it for 5 days"
etc.) and reward yourself! (In a healthy way! LOL) New bubble bath stuff, new
bra, new lipstick, watch a movie, etc...doesn't have to be anything big. Just
little treats along the way. Also tear out pictures of an outfit or a look you
are trying to achieve and put it somewhere that will inspire you. (And I don't
mean a 20 year old model. Be realistic!)

And its not about how many times you fall down, its about how many times you get
up!

I'll be completing week 4 and have not used any protein shakes.

I have Special K for breakfast and for lunch. In between breakfast and lunch and lunch and dinner, I have a small apple or the 90 calorie special k bars. I drinks lot water throughout the day and have cut out the bowl of ice cream after dinner. I'm back in the gym 5 days a week, 45 minutes of cardio on the eliptical, stairmaster or treadmill (mix it up and have a well stocked ipod), with 30 minutes of weight/strength training. I've had more energy than I can remember. Dinners have been salad with a vegetable, chick, turkey or fish. No red meats...it's nice when you see a friend who you haven't seen in 3 months and they take a 2nd look at you and say wow...that makes it all worth while plus the fact that you feel better. So far 3 weeks, 13 pounds. Week 4 weigh in is on Sunday.

This inquiry is for whoever has any information on the effectiveness of this plan without using the protein shakes. I actually started the plan yesterday but I haven't purchased the protein shakes and I am debating buying them at all. The main reason I have not purchased the shakes is due to the price. At about $8.00 for a pack of 4, these shakes are quite expensive living on a college budget. Now, being a nursing student I know the importance of protein so I am eating my regular meal of choice containing protein; ie steak, edamame (yummy soy beans), chicken etc.
Would someone please let me know if it would be as effective to get my protein via choice food and not the shake.

I advise everyone to be taking a multi-vitamin supplement while on this plan (it makes you feel less fatigued). Being a eco-friendly advocate and also not being fond of swallowing pills, the multivitamin I take is called Vita Fusion (it's a gummy supplement for adults). http://nwnaturalpro ducts.com/ vitafusion/
I hope you can find this information useful! (:

I wish everyone the best in weight loss and maintenance!

Jenn

Keep the bars put away under lock and key..ONLY TAKE ONE OUT...The purpose of the Special K Challenge and any "diet" for that matter, is to reteach us PORTION CONTROL. I will be completing week 4 on Sunday..so far 13 pounds, 60 to go. No time line, but I know and am confident about reaching my goal.

Yes you do have to find the right plan for yourself,  but whatever you do choose remember it has to be a lifestyle change for always or the diet will fail.  All the different diets are just that ,diets that you use and then when you go off them the weight comes back on.  Not a good way to keep encouragement.   Yo Yo dieting is not a good thing
Many different types of exercise are good for you.  choose what you enjoy doing and then mix it up with other exercises.
Everyone here is full of advice and helpful tips to use to help you lose and keep you encouraged as well.
Its really great to have an exercise companion too certainly makes exercise that much more fun and before you know it the exercise routine is done and you should feel better and better as each day goes by.

I don't know what I'm doing yet... I just came across this by accident... and thought it might be a good thing to try.
I am currently hovering around 200lbs... give or take depending on the day. Usually give. I am 5'2.. and it doesn't sit well on me.
I want to learn about this diet... but before I do I need to slow down on my soda in take. I was drinking can upon can upon can of soda... non diet... and I know that's not helping. So while fixing that... I'm wanting to read about the diet, and prepare myself to start it maybe next week.
I'm pretty sure it's more than eating cereal a few times a day for a few weeks... lol.

Hello everyone I wanted to take a minute to share my story.

I am the product of a Yo Yo dieter parent. My parent could lose 100+ pounds and
put it back on and has many times!

I am the mother of 5 children. In the following order: Boy age 13, Boy age 9
1/2, Boy age 6, Girl age 3, Boy age 2. The last two were back to back
C-Sections. I had been thin all of my life never wanting to be like my Parent.
However once I conceived my second son I knew there would be another child and I
just never bothered to get rid of the weight. The scale slowly crept up year
after year.

Finally just before my last child's second birthday I had to step on the scale
to weigh something I was going to ship from eBay. I stepped on the scale holding
the product, and then stepped on the scale with out holding the product. I
nearly passed out when I looked at the number! 187.4 pounds OMG NO WAY! I was
sick and tired of being sick and tired and seeing that number so close to the
200 I freaked out! This was March 26, 2009.

I joined WW and began walking every day. I followed the Tai-Slim and WW points!
And I added in the Special K. Well I am happy to report that I have lost 20% of
my body weight, and 36 pounds as of today! I still have 12 pounds to my goal

This week has been personally challenging but on the other hand I am eating a
lot healthier and loosing weight which is awesome. One thing that I am trying
to figure out is a healthy but tasty way to cook chicken. I have been
experimenting on a couple different ways like grilling, boiling, and baking but
I just can't figure it out. Please give me some suggestion!

Hello to my Special K Challenge Friends:

Week 5 weigh in has been recorded. Another 3 pounds lost!! So far 16 pounds
lighter. There is no magic to this, all I have been doing is sticking to the
plan. People who haven't seen me in several months take that double take when
they look at me. The skinny jeans are officially loose, not gonna do it yet, but
I have the draw of SUPER SKINNY JEANS. 20 pounds from now, I'll try those on.

I want to thank each and everyone of you for motivating me, helping me stay
focused on the goal. I feel great, and I'm so grateful.

I teach spinning over in World Gym in Wantagh Long Island NY, so any of you on
here want to come down and take my class, please do. You will burn calories like
you never have.

Till next week, keep positive, stay focused, and stick to the challenge.

All my best,

Paul

I've been on the Special K diet for two days. Has anyone else experienced being gassy or bloated? Any suggestions?

Hello everyone I wanted to take a minute to share my story.

I am the product of a Yo Yo dieter parent. My parent could lose 100+ pounds and put it back on and has many times!

I am the mother of 5 children. In the following order: Boy age 13, Boy age 9 1/2, Boy age 6, Girl age 3, Boy age 2. The last two were back to back C-Sections. I had been thin all of my life never wanting to be like my Parent. However once I conceived my second son I knew there would be another child and I just never bothered to get rid of the weight. The scale slowly crept up year after year.

Finally just before my last child's second birthday I had to step on the scale to weigh something I was going to ship from eBay. I stepped on the scale holding the product, and then stepped on the scale with out holding the product. I nearly passed out when I looked at the number! 187.4 pounds OMG NO WAY! I was sick and tired of being sick and tired and seeing that number so close to the 200 I freaked out! This was March 26, 2009.

I joined WW and began walking every day. I followed the Tai-Slim and WW points! And I added in the Special K. Well I am happy to report that I have lost 20% of my body weight, and 36 pounds as of today! I still have 12 pounds to my goal weight!

Thanks for letting me share my story.

I'm pretty sure it's more than eating cereal a few times a day for a few weeks... lol.

If you're cooking chicken breast I would suggest butterflying it (slicing it down the middle) and baking it in low sodium chicken broth. Tastes great.

The easiest and best chicken ever is boneless chicken breasts with a jar of
salsa in the crock pot. Holy cow, it falls apart and has awesome flavor. We
use it for tacos, burritos, salads and even sandwiches. Shoot, I just eat it
with a fork.

Someone has taken my posting all wrong. I am doing the challenge, I exercise everyday and I am working very hard at losing the weight I want to lose. I have already lost 25 lbs and have 25 to go to make my goal. So you people who say I am making excuses that is not true.
