Happy New Year! I hope everyone has a healthy and happy 2007!
A few quick notes:
- First, my apologies for stopping up the flow of messages, but I was
away from my computer for most of the day. In the coming weeks, we'll
begin to moderate only messages from new members, which will prevent
us moderators from becoming a bottleneck.
- Second, I wanted to remind folks that not everyone handles a large
flow of email messages well, so I encourage you to think carefully
before replying to a message about whether it should go to the whole
group or just to one person. Remember, if you simply hit "reply" to
messages sent through the group, your reply will go to the entire
group. I explain how to reply individuals here:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/SpecialKgroup/message/23
(the quick summary: just replace the "specialkgroup@yahoogroups.com"
with the specific person's email address after you hit reply)
- Third, if you are the one of those people who don't like lots of
individual messages in their inbox, you can always switch to "digest"
mode, which will include up to 25 messages in a single email. I
explain more here:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/SpecialKgroup/message/22
(the quick summary: to shift to digest format, just send an email to
specialkgroup-digest@yahoogroups.com)
And again, Happy New Year!!
There are sooooo many people joining and so many posts, I'm finding it
hard to keep up!!
Yes, the SpecialK plan works, any diet will work if you stick to it.
I started my plan in the middle of November and have lost 1 or 2lbs
every week since then.
I don't believe in luck, losing weight happens when you work at it!
It's going to be a good year!
Chris
Hello. I just joined and wanted to hear some success stories. I would
like to lose at least 50 pounds. I'm sure this would be a good jump
start if I will stick to it.

the wb page of special K and it will log you in and you will se it for
the next tow weeks and you pick what kind of special K you like and it
would give yu the menule.
I am 60 to 70 pounds overweight. I need a jumpstart on a diet plan
that really works. This question is for an honest individual who has
tried the Special K Challenge: DOES THIS 2 WEEK PLAN REALLY WORK?

Hi, happy holiday's to you. I am starting the diet on tuesday as
well. I'm trying to lose about 25 lbs. You're a step ahead of me
though, I still have to shop. I cant think of anything else except the
fruits and veggies for evening time. Good luck to you.
You go! I feel the same way, I'm 40 with six grown kids and two grandkids and another on the way.
I couldn't say it any better of how I feel.

Hello everyone. My name is Erin and I'm trying to lose baby weight
before my husband comes home from Iraq. I love the Special K cereals,
I just have a hard time staying with a diet. My little one is 14
months old. Does anyone have any suggestions on staying with a diet?

Joanne: I'm originally from N.J. also. I grew up in an Italian
family, so I know about trying to focus. I think the Special K diet
is great. I tried it before but didn't stay with it, so here I am
again.
Well I'm here! I joined for the same reason I guess everyone else
joined..."to have some buddies to chat with
and help keep myself and others on track".
I don't know if I'm the youngest person in this group but this young
woman is looking for a change. It just seemed as if the Special K
challenge was worth a try.
A little description of myself. I'm 22, about 5'2" undergraduate
senior. Whole life ahead of me, right?! If I get some of this weight
off, then I'll say that sentence with less sarcasm.
Well, I don't know how much I weigh because I tend to shy away from
scales but I know I've been this size before. I didn't like it the
first time, and I don't like it now. At my heaviest, I weighed 240
lbs, this was in 2002. After entering college, life changed,
consumption habits changed, mobility changed, finances changed
(college got ruff basically) and about 1 1/2 into it, I lost 70lbs.
From a size 20W down to 12 misses.
Happy right? Well kinda. A size 12 did bring a smile to my face.
Anyway, fast forward 3 1/2 years and I guess along the way I got
somewhat comfortable and weight has crept back on. (isn't it funny
how weight can creep?...LOL)
I've always been heavier then some, I guess you could say I fall
into the "medium-fat" if there is such a group...not the biggest,
and NO WHERE NEAR the smallest, lol.
I want to lose weight, not for the sake of vanity, but for the
health benefits. I'm young, fat and I feel perfectly fine. I don't
wait until I'm not "feeling perfectly fine" to do something about
it. My whole family is overweight. And they all grow old and the
complications of their life long obesity start to show up. That's
NOT going to be me!
I'm hoping this Special K thingie is the spark I've been needed.
Time for change.
hey all, my name is jennifer (jenni for short) and i'm starting the
special K plan on tuesday. well, i have a question about any ideas for
dinner meals...well, if any of you guys have ideas...i'd appreciate
it. i'm trying to lose 67 pounds...one step at a time. i've struggled
with my weight since the third grade and i'm gonna be 20 this coming
month...well, any advice anyone would give...i'd appreciate it
Hello to all of you. I am new at this and very excited after reading
all of your comments that I will have a lot of support through this
journey. Anyone have any helpful hints they can share? Let me know and
I will share mine as they come up.
Hi everyone,
my name is Megan from upstate,NY. I wanted to start this Special K
challenge to lose some weight. I only weigh 125lbs. but I just want to
get rid of some fat on my hips and thighs. I hate working out so this
is my last thing to try. I used to use diet pills but they made me
really sick and I felt really unhealthy. To keep up with eating right I
need motivation and I don't really get support from my family and
friends. If any of you can just send me a little something for
encouragement and support it would be very appreciated! Thanks a lot.
Love Megan
Does it work well as a snack? What flavors are the best? I'd like to add them
into my
Challenge as a way to mix things up a bit and I'd love to hear what you guys
think before I
run out to the store to stock up.
Thanks! Wendy
happy holiday's. i'm starting the special k diet tuesday. i brought
several cereals, protien bars, cereal bars and water. is there
anything else i should know before tuesday. i want to have everything
in the house so i can be ready. i want to lose 20 lbs. is this
realistic or not??? i await hearing from you guys. slim
hi i'm sophia
i always start but never finish because, i get bored.
i also hate to exercise.
Hi, Sophia-I know EXACTLY how you feel on both counts. Things have to
be VERY easy for me. This sounds like it might be a good start-it's two
weeks-not a drastic commitment and maybe the boost will be good for all
of us.
Motivate me-maybe it will reinforce you. I have tried all diets to date
and am tired of silly "stars" and being talked down to in meetings or
complicated diet plans.
QUESTION: Did I miss the mention of what dinner should consist of? I
could have a 4 hour, 6 course one if there is no help there!
I would like to know where you get the food journal, too. Does anyone
know the answer to this question? Also, how are you doing on the
Special K diet? I've been to the store and I've stocked up and I'm
ready to start, even bought some of the water(lemon twist) Does anyone
have any suggestions or tips that might be of help to me?? I'm all
ears......lol

I am brand new and need to lose about 60 pounds have tried everything
else so I saw this and thought I would give it a try. Plus really
could use the support of other women who also need not to lose just
weight but change their lifestyles and become healthy. I am over fifty
and need to lose not just for looks but for health reasons. Look
forward to hearing from anyone in Ohio interested in partnering up for
support.

I am a 56 yr old divorced woman who is about 50 lbs or more
overweight. I am 5'2" and weigh about 188.
I have had 3 back surgeries and 3 knee surgeries. Including a total
knee replacement. I am depressed most of the time due to being
overweight and not being able to exercise much. I would appreciate
any ideas on how to get started losing some weight.
I do cook most of the time due to a limited budget, on disability due
to my back. I dont eat a lot, just sometimes eat the wrong things,
like chips, they are my downfall.
Jan from Missouri
I am 35 years old, currently weigh 265, have tried all diets, lost some
weight on each one, but always fell back into old habits. I joined
Weight Watchers in February 2006, lost 12 pounds, and fell away, but
have managed to keep it off. Special K offers such great tasting
alternatives to healthy food. I have taken on a new hope, and want to
meet the Special K challenge of losing weight, not only to look and
feel better, but to be healthier. But I need support, encouragement,
so please send me notes to help me along my path. I want to be able to
go outside and play with my kids without making excuses of why I
can't. I want to walk and not have my knee's hurting. I want to go
shopping again, and not get depressed because the stores dont have my
size. I want to be able to sleep at night and not wake up every
morning with my back hurting from the extra weight on my spine. To all
of you in this group....I wish you all best wishes for a healthier and
happier new year!
Hi my name is Dani, I am 42 and struggling with my weight right now. Several years ago I lost 100 pounds, but in the last 1 1/2 year I have gained some of that weight back. Of course I blame it on the fact that my son (13) has moved in with me again and as you could imagine I have to keep food in the house for him and cook dinner on a regular basis. I have no willpower and cannot get my head in the game. My clothes don't fit! It is very depressing. Has this been working for you? Any suggestions or helpful hints to get my head in this and turn my weight gain into weight loss?
i have found that exercising accelerates weight loss ...no surprise there, i'm sure, but my reason for putting this here is this: if you're easily discouraged, or need more motivation, then exercise is the way to go. not only do you burn more calories, you shape your muscles...you'll notice your clothes fit differently, even before the scale tells you you've lost weight...and the best part of all? you feel STRONG....when your muscles feel strong, you stand taller, are less apt to injure yourself doing everyday activities, and it keeps you on track! blondie

i know this sounds crazy, but you should eat more often to lose weight, not less; the idea is to keep your blood glucose level on an even keel....eat 5-6 times a day and you'll eliminate that need to pound food because you feel like if you don't eat, you'll pass out. try it, it works...blondie

if you do as they suggest, and replace 2 meals, it would have to work...you can lose 1-2 lbs a week modifying your intake in less drastic a way than the substitution...it should work for just about everyone...blondie
