Hi everyone! Today is my first day and my goal is to loose 20 pounds.
I'm going to visit my husband in exactly 2 weeks, so let’s see if I
can loose those 6 pounds! Hopefully I'll loose more than that. I've
already lost 10 pounds so I have great determination, I use to weight
110 in H.S, and I went up to 140 and now I'm currently down to 130. I
really want to loose more weight in the next 2 weeks because it’s
going to be the last time I see my husband till November.

Hello,
I am Wendy. I am here like everyone else because I have some weight to
lose. I am finally doing something for me and not for others. That is
how I believe that this would work. Before my mom would ask me to diet
with her (never Special K) and I would so okay, but because I really
didn't want to do it for me I wouldn't lose weight.
What I have done to help me get to this point? After the New Year I
started walking and I am up to 2 miles! Also in December I stopped
drinking sodas completely and that helped me drop 10lbs. LOL. I look
forward to helping everyone and would love everyones advice!
Today will be day 1 for me :)

Hi, I'm 61 and have been disABLED by MS and RA for 38 yrs (MS) and
approx. 15 yrs (RA). I saw this challenge and decided to at least try
it. I cannot exercise the others can, and I've steadily gained over
the last 15 yrs. I started eating the Special K red Berry cereal and
following the eating advice......I lost 5 lbs this week! Just one
week and it worked already. I am not bloated either which was the
most amazing part to me!

I'm so glad there is a place we can come together and share the
success that this challenge has brought to so many!

[=D>]  1 1/2 weeks in the Special K Challage  [=D>]

I feel really good too - I did though cheat, not too happy about. I had
some cheesie popcorn and a few homemade baked chocolate chip cookes. BUT
as of tomorrow I am jumping back on track! [:D] .

I feel really good about the Specail K product that I am eating. I
REALLY love the blueberry cereal that with a handful of blueberries in
the morming is OH so Good! I love eating the Chocolate ceral for lunch,
it helps with the craving for chocolate during the mid-day at work. I
also love the blueberry snack bars 90 calories yea!!!

I have to share with you, some people have noticed that I have been
bring cereal to work for lunch, they comment how "cute" that is - they
they would love to do the same thing, becuase they love cereal...lol

Also, I LOVE MY GIFT, from special K - Thank You! I told my daughter
"Now" I have a bag (the Red Specail K bag) to carry my cereal to work
in...lol... she thinks I am a DORK....lol [:))]

Question, this is so embassing, has anyone since they started the
challange had problems with Gas??

I believe so...
My meal usually has a little of something I Love. Like bread, a potato, chips,
or something
sweet, but your meal is a meal. I like Something a little hardy to tide me over.
Maybe add
some croutons or a fruit but other wise sounds good.

Okay I need to get healthier. I was recently married and my weight
(although gross before the wedding) has snuck back up on me. I have
lost weight again but need to keep working at it. I would like to
have children some day. If I have backpain and knees that creak now
imagine with the weight of carrying another life around inside me. So
I have come up with an idea to keep me motivated.

I love to shop. But in this economy I am limiting how much I spend.
So here is my idea. I'm gonna go grab some envelopes. And label them
with 5 pound loss increments. I will put a little (small amount) of
spending money in them. I will not allow myself to open an envelope
until I have lost those 5 pounds. Hopefully this will motivate me to
keep going.

Just thought I'd share my plan as maybe it will assist someone else
too who likes to shop and needs a reward besides looking and feeling
better.

My name is Sheila and I am 31 years old and I am new to the group. Two
years ago I weighed 210 lbs and by sticking to the diet with plenty of
water, while including my 3 portion dinner and hiking I went all the
way to 138lbs. I let life get the best of me and now weigh 182;
however, two weeks ago I weighed 196lbs I came back to the only thing
that has ever worked for me and have already lost weight. I am
searching for support from others like me and I hope I can be there for
you also.

If you need a buddy I'll be glad to do this with you. Just email me.
This diet works. I used it to lose 15 pounds before my wedding this
past summer. But you know running a household, back to work, holidays
and I think I suffer from seasonal depression all contributed to
weight gain again. I've used the Special K diet again to take off
most of the weight that I put back on. I read recently that those who
consume any cereal actually lose 25% more than those that ate a high
protein diet (an issue of Women's World). The key is to not just eat
a bowl of average Special K every day twice a day. You need protein
and variety. I buy two or three types of Special K cereal and
alternate. Then I have the meal bars for the mornings I'm not ready
for a breakfast. But they say you need to eat breakfast to keep your
metabolism going strong. I like the Special K waters as they offer
more protein to add in. But I'm finding them hard to find here. Need
to run to K-mart no pun intended but they seem to be the only ones
near me that keep them stocked.

If you need a buddy. I'll be glad to support you. Shoot me an email.

Ok people....I feel pretty darn good about myself right now and I just
thought I should post something before the feeling goes away lol Last
night I met a friend at a Potbelly's for dinner. Had the chicken salad
salad with no dressing and was actually very good. We went to a
Seattle's Best cafe after that I splurged a little on getting a mocha
raspberry kiss with no whipcream. I wasn't about to beat myself up
about it because I TOTALLY evaded the sweets!!! I was SO tempted to
buy something....a cookie, brownie, chocolately marshmellow thing,
cinnamon pecan cake, anything! But I resisted, basically because I
know I will be having pizza Sunday during the Superbowl and so I wanted
to make that my 'cheat' day. But I was just very proud of myself. And
on top of that I'm having an EXCELLENT workout week! So like I said I
just felt like posting a little something about my progress while the
feeling lasted. Hope everyone else is doing well!!

AMEN!!! I have helped to cut my food budget by splitting meals with my
husband. We tend to like similar things are restaraunts, so we order a
second plate of sides and split the meat. I am sorry, but a 20 oz
steak is WAY too much meat for one person! Even a 12 oz is 2 full
servings. We also do that at home. I used to fix each of us a
chicken breast, but realized that created a lot of waste or leftovers.
Now we split our meat and I make smaller sides. (The small can of corn
is plenty, whereas the big can is way too much.) I also use smaller
plates to help make the servings look bigger. If he is hungry later,
he can choose to snack. It has really helped us watch our money and
waists. I would love to live in a city that had to post nutrition
information and serving sizes on menus!

Good Luck

Kim

portions are grossly out of wack in this country.  I was watching
Rachel Ray a few weeks ago and they had an expert on the show talking
about portions in the US compared to in the UK and how way out of wack
we are.  Way too much food.  > Sara

LAURA, Don't get discouraged!
We all are starting somewhere and with depression it is doubly hard to get
motivated so...one little step at a time, girl!
Don't take on the daunting big task, set yourself an attainable little goal!
Then move on to the next one, etc.
Once you get it going you will be shocked at how easy it becomes!!
The feeling of accomplishment and the feeling better will help to motivate like
nothing else can.
I will put my sheet into my computer and I'll email you a copy of it as soon as
I can.
Take heart Girl!!
You can do it!!

barbara,
I am new and started today myself but reading what you wrote, I felt
the desire to write back to you. I know being sick and trying
everything under the sun to get the weight to come off is almost to
the point, you will do or try anything. I have been there since I
was 12 or so and I am 32 now. I struggle everyday and wonder why
people in general always use your looks and weight to judge who you
are as a person. I am trying to grow and hope to help others in the
battle of loosing this weight. I know its hard but I feel if you
stick through the first few days, it wont be as hard. Its more of a
mental thing in general to get past the first steps of loosing the
weight. I have a saying,

If thats what it takes to bring me Home to you , then bring the rain
on ! If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it ! The
WILL of God will never take you where the GRACE of God will not
protect you!!

I don't know if any of that helps, but I do hope it does !

Hi I have been at this for a few days now.. need to lose many more
pounds than most of you but going to plug along patiently. My question
is about chicken. I have some thighs that are for my dogs. IF I pull
this skin off .. is there still a big difference in the fat content? I
know dark meat has more fat than white but is it enough to matter? I am
trying to save to join a curves so I would rather eat the thighs minus
skin than spend a lot on breasts. If there is aomewhere that lists
this kind of stuff I dont mind researching.. I just must not
be "googling" the right words to find it. Thanks

Rachel,
Any snack will do as long as it's low in calories. I get cherry
essence prunes, raisins, carrots, any of the 100 calorie items will
work. Also, if you go to www.calorieking.com you can watch your
calories there very easily.

I want to make a worksheet that I can monitor my eating, moods, (depression
