Hello, My name is Naiomy I am 24 and I have 3 children. My goal is to
get to a healthier weughy. I am currently 150 pounds. It is very hard
for me to exercise or eat properly because I work, go to schoo, have
the kids which one of them is 5 months and the other two are school
aged. I honestly lack will power. I know that I can shed the pounds but
I would like to talk to people who are supportive not people who laugh
at me.

Yoga. And no you don't need to twist yourself into a pretzel. The fire series is
really good for abs. Don't go with DVD's go to your local YMCA/YWCA and sign up
for classes. And don't be intimidated with how little you can stretch and how
the person next to you can stick their head between their legs and touch the
back of their head to their rear end. The yoga instructor where I went to was
over 300 pounds. Also swimming is a great exercise. Good luck!

Gerri, I would NEVER suggesgt for ANYONE to reward or punish with food. It
creates a bad relationship with food and carries a higher risk of eating
disorders. My long-time school friend went to college for nutrition and has
given me many suggestions controlling your weight using food. But not rewarding
or punishing yourself or especially your children with food. Coming from a
family with diet related helath problems we very rarely used food as a reward or
form of dicipline. I know my father-in-law used to make my husband and his
brother sit at the table and finish their food (which was a rediculous amount
ex: 30 regular sized pancakes each). They were overweight to begin with and now
are clinically obese (because of their father's methods of dicipline they are
now members of the clean-your-plate club. I'm trying to break my husband of that
habit, which has been working. Point being, if he can't finish, he's not
obliged. When I was in grammar school we
had a clean-your-plate policy which even the regular amout of food given was
too much for me. But if forced myself to eat it so I could go out for recess.
And now I'm trying to reduce how much is on my plate so I don't feel so obliged
to eat it all. Even foods that I like. If you want to reward yourself please,
please, PLEASE, don't use food to do it. Buy yourself a pice of clothing, visit
someone you havn't seen in a while (their compliments should be reward enough).
Or if you feel rewarding with food, make your favorite meal.

Hi Angie, I usually eat ice cream that is sherbert or something that
has a low cal item there are many in the stores to choose from so look
at lables. I keep myself on a regular 1500 cal diet a day.

Angie to tell you the truth about your question Yes I do. You should
look at all labels keep yourself on low cal everything. If you are
near or at my age you should always keep yourself on a diet and count
calories ride a bike or something for 15 minutes a day no longer to
much can make you sick excersise. It all matters what you do and how
you eat. Eat little bits half sandwiches half everything do not fill
plate and think oh I will lose weight you have to work at everything.
It is just the way it is. I have to I am 50 years old and work out and
help myself to half sandwiches and no two pieces of bread one. That is
sure enough. Hope to help you in anyway possible. Good luck and I will
be waiting to hear from you. Read labels on the ice cream it will tell
you what is diet and what is high in calories low cal keep it at 1500
or less calories a day. Good luck and work out that helps. Even
walking is working out. Walk one mile a day. That is not to bad. I
ride my inside bike only 15 min. a day. Good luck my friend. I am
here if you need me again. Encouragement is very important even for
me. Good luck again Gerri

Hi Sue, this is my best advice for you. First, dont keep any cash on
you and cut up your atm/credit card. Second, go thru your kitchen and
clear out everything but veggies, bread, milk, fruit, fish, chicken
breasts. Third, get a heart healthy diet from your doctor and it lists
other things in limited quantities that you can have. Fourth, keep only
these things in your house and dont allow anything else in the house
except fill your fridge with bottles of water and put your special k
cereal on top of the fridge or in your cupboard. Make sure you have
honey nut cheerios or apples or some honey for your tea for something
sweet when you need it most. If you opt for peanut butter instead of
red meat and cut the bread out you will lose weight without doing
anything. Opt for alot of veggies and fruit. You can use milk, soy
milk or rice milk and some frozen or fresh fruit for a smoothie in your
blender. Dont allow sugar in your house. I highly recommend doing the
physical things that you most enjoy. Mine is riding my bike. Best
Wishes and Blessings Kimberly

I'm 1 week in and doing fine with staying on track. My will power
isn't usually so strong, but planning meals in advance and not buying
junk food helps a lot (also, I REALLY want this). I wondered if anyone
who has been dieting for awhile or who made it successfully through
this challenge got to a point where they weren't craving food all the
time. I'm noticing how easily a bowl of cereal fills me up at lunch,
but even though I'm not hungry I still want to keep eating. Sometimes
it's hard to resist, and I worry that I won't be able to stop myself
from overeating! Will these cravings stop if I give my body long
enough to adjust to eating less?

Hey guys! I'm Julie. I have half assed started this week. I'm not
having a hard time, just with fall and cold weather, for lunch I want
to have something warm like a bowl of soup. I'm trying to learn to only
eat when I'm hungry. I have a few reasons why I want to lose weight. I
have a herniated disk (which is making working out, but I am at least
able to walk) so I think losing weight will help with that. And my
hubby and I want to start trying to get pregnant next year sometime
(I'm hoping April) and my Dr said she wants me to lose 20 lbs before we
start. I'm 169 right now, and she would love to see me at 150.

Hi Angie, I usually eat ice cream that is sherbert or something that
has a low cal item there are many in the stores to choose from so look
at lables. I keep myself on a regular 1500 cal diet a day. I have lost
so much weight and look terrific I am down to a size 7 from a 13 for
doing this. I eat little ice cream even though it is my favorite of
all items but when I do eat this type of thing I eat it only once a
month. It kills me because I love icecream so very much. But I like
How I look at this time it took a lot to do this. I am now 50 years
old and have had 4 children in my life the oldest being 34 years old
down to 26 she is my youngest. I just have to watch my weight forever
that is the whole thing to a diet. It is everyday. I put grapes in my
frig and when I get hungry I grab those a few and then move on or have
a drink of some sort to curb the apatite. I dont know what else to
tell you but I do wish you luck and if you need me for anything ever
just let me know and I will do what I can to help you with anything.
If this is the actress that I think you are, You might know my sister
Joanne Engle she is a fantastic person and if I am right she says you
are a fantastic person and I would be willing to help you in anyway
possible. Good luck Angie for I wish all that are in this site so many
good things. There are so many people on this site that say I broke my
eatting today and had what I wanted but being on a diet means forever
not just today it is everyday. All the time and specially if you are
older. Because as it is our matabalisom changes as we get older and it
is harder and harder so you must keep yourself at a rate of calories
that are low. Everything you buy in the store says what the calories
are so keep it at a min.. of 1500 a day or less if you can. Good luck
and I am rooting for you to help you anytime. Mrs. Gerri laGrange

Does your church have a gym or open area during the week you and some church
friends can use to get together and have a fitness meeting night? If you're
using the Good Lord as your main source of motivation then it could help to have
some church friends exercise with you. Making commitments like meeting others
for support (I think) would drive you to keep your commitments. Online its
convenient since you don't have to go anywhere to meet and converse with others,
but its also easy just to leave the computer to the kids. I'm not Mormon but I
do attend a Mormon church where fitness and health are VERY important. The
church I attend also has a gym (indoor basketball court) where basically anyone
can ask to use. Even if your church doesn't have a gym or indoor space big
enough for you and some friends to get together for support meetings try at
home. Have some church friend over and take over the largest room in your home.
Move the furniture aside, stand in
a circle and walk/march in place while chit chatting. The time just flies when
you're exercising with friends. Good luck!

As soon as you get up. Your belly is empty and after you use the toilet. I
actually did a little test once. I weighed myself right before I used the
restroom, then weighed myself right after. I lost a few ounces. Silly but it's
the best way to get accurate readings. Also account your weight for you hair and
any clothing you may be wearing while on the scale. Also (and I'm sure you know
this) never wear your shoes. That can account for at most 2 to 3 pounds.

10 pounds it is. We will all do a great job doing at least 20 minutes exercise a

Hi..hope this group can help me lose some weight. Sorry I can't do

I am 72 yr old and in recent years have been putting on the weight.
I no longer exercise like I should and have to start using my
treadmill. I live in a very rural area and in winter the dirt roads
are too dangerous. They get very icey. I am willing to try the
Special K diet. Does that mean Special K for breakfast and lunch?
Does it really work?
I love to quilt, garden and of course cook which is my problem...I
love samplely my food! And there is no exercise while sewing!
Anyway I will try to join and hope to see some good results. Thanks
