Hi Lori,
As usual, I think Larry's posts are so awesome. I am not sure about "not"
putting anything Christian in the baskets for Easter?! Have you always put
something Christian things in your daughter's basket? When you make baskets for
others, do you leave Christian things out? Would that be denying Christ or your
normal routine? Just asking. I think for Easter baskets, whatever you normally
do, is what I would do with your daughter and her partner. The things I don't
think I personally couldn't allow, is a child and their partner to spend the
night in my home. I'm glad you don't have to make that decision as they have a
hotel room. I don't allow my kids to spend the night with their boyfriend/
girlfriend in my home if they aren't married. At least they can't stay in the
same bedroom. It goes against my spiritual and secular beliefs. Already did that
before, even though I felt in my heart it was wrong. Hmmmmmmmmm It's like our
kids (gay or
not) get away with stuff 'cause they know we want to see them so bad, and have
them in our lives that they know we will dance around issues and step lightly,
allow things we wouldn't normally allow just to be with them. AND THEY ARE RIGHT
most of the time LOL. So they are the ones in control. LOL Kind of the way I
look at things is that I can make compromises to a certain degree, and God is
the one they have to answer to, not me.
If you normally pray at meal time, don't stop doing it just cause they visit. I
hope some of this makes sense and doesn't step on toes. I am sure you will get
many different responses. We all have things we've tried; we all have different
opinions. I try always to not be judgmental, listen with an open mind and use
the pieces of advice that fit me the best and learn from experience! I actually
think I am tired of the "learning" thing! lol
I hope you have an awesome Easter and a wonderful visit with your daughter and
her partner. Larry's menu sure sound yummy! I think he needs to come to my house
and help me cook it!
In Him,
