Happy Holy Week everyone ...
My subject line was last Sunday's sermon -- as I think and pray for all of us
here, that sermon speaks volumes to my feelings as I continue to love and
support our son and his partner. Unconditional love is HARD WORK -- (sometimes I
just want to sit down and pull my hair out -- but then I'd be bald and have
something else to complain about, right!! ;)
So many of us live on/in Good Friday moments as we struggle to find balance as
we watch our gay children struggle with their identities and all the other
hurdles that life throws at them and then at us. We agonize over what we
"think" we should be doing, instead of just doing what we need to do: love them,
cherish them and let God take care of all the rest.
Lori -- I commend your giving spirit towards your daughter and her partner
coming for Easter and getting baskets! That's a "joy in the journey" moment in
my eyes! I know it's hard to move forward when we think everything else is going
backwards, or even worse -- at a standstill! Yet as moms and dads, we do what we
gotta do despite the odds against our children.
Larry -- your sense of humor lifts and makes us smile. Angel -- your words are
always heartfelt and pull at all of our souls; you are a treasure.
Good Friday is just around the corner. It's a somber, dark, black day when even
hope seems lost. But Easter Sunday is coming -- SONshine and Hope abound each
year as we renew our faith in a God who loves us know matter what we do, no
matter who we are, no matter what direction we are headed ....
What will you leave at the cross?? Max Lucado say to "start with your bad
moments and while there, leave the MAD ones too." Good idea! So unpack your
suitcase and leave your fear, for God will fight the battles when we are all too
exhausted to carry it any further.
The Easter Basket is full, so go ahead find your joy; it's in there, Celebrate
-- "trust in the Lord for His mercy endures forever."
Happy Easter -- He is Risen!
