Each 20-Hour Weekend course is only $525.00 per session in Texas (plus $13.00 ACC insurance fee). Texas needs massage therapists that are trained in medical massage!

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS: (ACC Class code = MSSG 2000)

P101 Weekend Theory, History, Body Mechanics, Rationale of Pfrimmer Deep Muscle Therapy with Technique forHands, Arms, Neck, Head and Face. Prerequisite: Must be a Licensed Massage Therapist, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, R.N., M.D., or other medical professional.

P102 Weekend - Neuromuscular Considerations of PDMT Corrective Work; Pfrimmer Troubleshooting Keys; Review of Nervous System, Plexus and Anatomy; Pathology Review of 50 Common Conditions treated by PDMT; and Technique for Chest, Abdomen, Back and Back of Neck. (Prerequisite: P101)

P103 Weekend  How PDMT affects Body Systems; How to Address the handicapped Client; Protocol and Charting; Legal Considerations; and Technique for the Anterior Legs and Posterior Legs. (Prerequisite: P102)

Hey,

I wanted to see if I could get your quick help. I'm not sure if you've heard, but there's a movement of citizens inspired by the presidential campaign who are now submitting ideas for how they think the Obama Administration should change America. It's called "Ideas for Change in America."

I've submitted an idea and wanted to see if you could quickly vote for it. The title is: Therapeutic Massage Service Corps/Touch Care for All. You can read and vote for the idea by clicking on the following link:

The top 10 ideas are going to be presented to the Obama Administration on Inauguration Day and will be supported by a national lobbying campaign run by Change.org, MySpace, and more than a dozen leading nonprofits after the Inauguration. So each idea has a real chance at becoming policy. In brief, my idea is:

An initiative to fund skilled appropriate touch in all aspects of health care: preventative, skilled care(pre/post natal,homeless, infants,children, teens, orthopedic, psych., geriatric, diabetic, alzheimers, parkinson's) palliative, end-of-life care, survivor care. trauma, cancer, cardiac...every need addressed every burden of care level, every facility and new programs to help the aged.

Did you know that years ago nurses gave their pt's. a massage every day? first with alcohol then with lotion? ask an old nurse they'll tell you it eased the pt's suffering and they required less drugs.

That sort of therapeutic touch is absent in most care facilities today. Nurses don't have time, Medicare doesn't allow therapist's the time, insurance won't pay usually.

Where do you get the benefit of appropriate massage care? Maybe when you get into hospice, if there is a massage volunteer, or maybe not ever...help millions of suffering elderly receive regular skilled touch with well trained massage therapists. Then let's partner with schools and facilities to begin simple hand or foot massage training to help the burgeoning population of diabetic conditions in our nation. The research is there that says massage helps all conditions by reducing the seat of disease, stress. Now is the time to wrestle back quality in healthcare, not status quo Medi-crap. Down with drugs, up with touch!

"Canadian Massage" or "Deep Muscle Therapy" originally created by Thérčse Pfrimmer in the 1940's, works on a cross-muscle-fiber principle and has come to be known as Pfrimmer Deep Muscle TherapyŽ. In the past50 years, this therapy has changed the lives of literally thousands. It is one of the most respected techniques in the world today. Her discovery, which led to the reversal of her own paralysis, consists of an extremely detailed, total-body cross-fiber treatment which causes corrective changes in the muscle on a cellular level. Pfrimmer Deep Muscle Therapy works toward the correction and prevention of serious muscle conditions such as ALS, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy,Parkinson's, Cerebral Palsy, brain injury, and stroke. It has also been effective in alleviating muscular and joint pain, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, sports injuries, trauma, occupational stress disorders, arthritis, paralysis, back pain, whiplash, chronic fatigue syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome, constipation, and circulatory problems, to name a few.
Course Description - LEVEL I (80 HOURS)
LEVEL I - Eighty hours of training in the basic total body corrective work Level I; Graduate Status - "Pfrimmer Deep Muscle Therapist".Localized Strokes for the Evaluation and Correction of particularly Difficult Conditions. Learn The Basic Sequence of Pfrimmer Strokes for Comprehensive Total-Body Correction. The Pfrimmer Level I portion immerses the student in the total-body, basic, hands-on technique work of Thérčse C. Pfrimmer. The student learns to comb the entire body,muscle by muscle, seeking fascial restrictions, inflammation, and congestion which impair the movement and function of that body part.Serious attention is given to the student's body mechanics and to their accurate execution of the many detailed strokes. Each student will be observed individually during class. Additional Pfrimmer instructors will assist for large classes when needed. The student learns to deal kindly and supportively with each client; the student receives support to diffuse their own fears about working with the seriously handicapped client should they choose to pursue that direction. Studying the complete sequence for the total body is imperative for the therapist's comprehension of corrective body work. It is also vital for the client's well being. Pfrimmer Level I provides a sound foundation for all therapists embarking on a career of corrective bodywork of any type. Successful completion of the Level I program awards the practitioner a Level I diploma and the title "Pfrimmer Deep Muscle Therapist".

WHAT IS PFRIMMER DEEP MUSCLE THERAPY? - LEVEL 1 is an advanced intensive which will provide the foundation for understanding and correcting muscle/soft tissue aberrations through palpation, conceptual theory, and specific, detailed, corrective cross fiber strokes for the whole body. The course covers theory, technique, practice, pathology, history, professionalism, contraindications, small business practices and ethics. (See individual class descriptions below) Lecture, audiovisual aids, student notebook, charts and critical thinking discussions are utilized. Close individual guidance accompanies the 80-hour hands-on workshop. The certification program provides a full scope of learning to perform basic and advanced Pfrimmer corrective work.

Completion of the course qualifies graduates for NCTMB continuing education credits. Austin Community College (ACC) will provide CE credit certificates following each 20-hour segment that satisfies the Texas Department of State Health Services CE requirements.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS: (ACC Class code = MSSG 2000)

P101 Weekend Theory, History, Body Mechanics, Rationale of Pfrimmer Deep Muscle Therapy with Technique for Hands, Arms, Neck, Head and Face. Prerequisite: Must be a Licensed Massage Therapist, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, R.N., M.D., or other medical professional.

P103 Weekend How PDMT affects Body Systems; How to Address the handicapped Client; Protocol and Charting; Legal Considerations; and Technique for the Anterior Legs and Posterior Legs. (Prerequisite: P102)

P104 Weekend Written and Practical Exams; Introduction to Pfrimmer Second Pass Work; Timing; the Clinical Process; Special Pfrimmer Applications; Professional Ethics & Small Business Practices; Graduation and Diploma. (Prerequisite: P103)
