You aren't slow-witted, honey. You are just too pre-occupied with your
anxiety about every past witticism that went unuttered to relax and
just let the conversation flow. Stop obsessing on what you didn't say
in the past, because as far as the other person is concerned you
probably appeared perfectly intelligent. In fact, this is one instance
where it is perfectly okay to be like George W. Bush, he sounds like an
idiot every time that he doesn't have a scripted speech and he has to
speak off the cuff. Yet despite the fact that his every utterance is
being preserved for posterity he persists in displaying his complete
and total ignorance of everything on this earth. You should also adopt
a nonchalant attitude towards what you say in public, because I am
almost certain that whatever comes out of your mouth won't be half as
bad as the dreck that spews forth from that moron. He's the one who
needs to watch what he says, you really don't need to worry that much.
Just forget about the past, take a breath, relax and let the
conversation flow.
