Squeakyvenus42,
Thank you for writing. I can relate with a lot of what you wrote in your
message. I especially agree that the more I feel I should be talking is when I
feel the most uncomfortable.
Things get tricky for me in more casual workplace settings. I am also new at
my job and it is hard to deal with being the new kid on the block. I often talk
myself out of chatting with others, probably because of the fear that I might
say
something to make someone think negatively about me (which is rarely what
really happens). The majority of people I work with are extroverts and this
makes me seem even more shy than I actually am. I am hard on myself
because conversation seems so simple for most people, so I wonder why I
have problem with it.
I find when I am not thinking about my quietness, that the day goes
smoother...and faster. For example, when I am working on a particular
project, I interact and talk with others that are involved in the project. I
have a
focus and I am doing what is expected of me, so I don't worry about what
others are thinking.
