Hi Nicole,
I also was terrified of Public speaking. I had to do a 45 minute presentation for graduate school and was thinking of dropping the class but then I decided I was sick of avoiding what I feared the most and decided I was going to try even if I made a complete fool of myself. I started practicing over a month in advance by practicing total muscle relaxation several times a day. I did that through progressive muscle relaxtion, tensing and relaxing each muscle in my body and also practicing breathing calmly. If you practice breathing everyday and tell your self your breathing is calm and regular it helps to calm yourself when you are in a nervous situation. Then when I became totally relaxed through these relaxation techniques, I would visualize me in front of the room, all the people in the room and me giving my speech. I would practice this several times a day after doing progressive relaxation. I would also tell myself that I was calm and would do a good job. I gave my presentation and found that to my suprise, I was not nervous and I did a good job. Several people came up to me afterwards and told me so. I would have never thought I could do that. I took some of the relaxation techniques from the book, "Less Stress in 30 days" by Peggy Roggenbuck Gillespie and Lynn Bechtel. It is an older book. Good Luck with your career and don't give up, otherwise you will regret it and blame yourself.

imagine talking to a room full of 80 people, lol. I know I shouldn't
forget it just cuz I'm shy but it's nervewracking to think I'll have
to do the that. Right now I just feel like forgetting about my
shyness and jumping right in on doing what I want. Besides this is
the only life I get and I should live it to the fullest, right?
Anyways thanks for everything.
