Re: [Shocks-For-Life] HeartPatients.com - A Support Group for People suffering from Heart Diseases

Hi,

Sorry to not address you by name, but you didn't sign your post with a
regular name and I can't infer what your name might be from seeing your
email address and guessing. My talking computer just makes a garbled sound
when it reads the address, and going over it dcharacter by character hasn't
worked for me so I could put an idea of your name together. See below for
explanation. Thanks.

This sounds like a valuable online community, but I wonder one thing: It
also sounds as if it may entail an online forum and other features, all of
which have to be accessed at a Web site. I know that's fairly common. But
I'm a blind heart patient, and in order to access my computer for all
purpose, from email to Web surfing, I use what's called a screen reader
program, which renders text on the screen into speech as I navigate, read
and write. Adaptive programs like mine often don't work well in online
forums due to the forum platform being formatted and coded in a way that may
look clear to sighted users but which a screen reader program can't make
sense of, even with my best skills.

Is there a mailing list associated with this community, for those of us
who'd be satisfied with just that? This mailing list, for example, has been
wonderfully informative and supportive for me, leaving me with no wish that
I could find other features and information online.

thanks,

Joel
Los Angeles
