Hi All
Myself and Olivia Lester are organising a Homebirth Conference scheduled to take place on the 29 March 2008, at St Mary's in Sheffield. The conference titled 'Making Women the Focus of Maternity Care' is aimed at both parents and professionals.
Subjects covered on the day will include the safety of homebirth, birth as a normal process, empowering women and midwives, why women don't have homebirths, supporting women to make their own choice including those who are classed as high risk and workshops on vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC), normal natural physiological third stage, Haemolytic Strep B infections, Breech/twins and waterbirth.
Speakers on the day will include: Professor Mavis Kirkham, Sheffield Hallam University; Nadine Edwards, Vice Chair of the Association for Improvements in the Maternity Services; Jane Evans, Independent Midwife; Pam Dorling, retired NHS Midwife from Sheffield; Wendy Davis, NHS Midwife from Sheffield; Anne Adamson, Independent Midwife; Chris Warren, Independent Midwife; Amanda Dixon, NHS Midwife from Mid Essex; Dot Parry, NHS Midwife from Manchester and others to be confirmed.
I am looking for a couple parents to help out on the day and in return get free entrance to the conference. In particular I need somebody to help man a stall and sell some children's books. Is anybody interested? If so please let me know ASAP.
Tickets for this conference are not yet available to purchase but places can be reserved by contacting Olivia Lester via email olivia.lester@... or telephone 0114 2678 948. The cost for tickets including refreshments & lunch homemade@St. Mary's are £50 for Professionals – midwives & antenatal teachers (inc. NCT) and £30 for student midwives / student teachers and parents. We are offering a £10 reduction on all fees booked before 1st December 2007.
Thanks
Michelle.
