I think I might send this to the Chief Executive of Sheffield Teaching Hospital Trust who responded to my concerns about the 25% caesarean section rate as follows: "It is worth noting that one of the recommendations of the NICE Guidelines on caesarean section (published in 2004) is that more research is required on the long and short term risks and benefits of caesarean section compared with vaginal birth". Although Jessop Wing now have his full support to become an early adopter site for the use of the NHS Toolkit 'Focus on normal birth and reducing Caesarean section rates.'
