Call for Participation – Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP) Technical Committees

The HITSP Technical Committees are continuing harmonization work for the Emergency Responder EHR Use Case, Security and Privacy constructs, and the three detailed draft Use Cases received from the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) in early May, 2007, those being:

• Medication Management

Includes medication reconciliation, pharmacy/allergy, monitoring of medications, ordering, transmission, dispensing, administering, patient lookup and matching

• Consumer Access to Clinical Information

Includes laboratory results, as needed by patients, list of conditions and allergies, health problems, diagnosis codes, list of providers, and portability of PHR data

• Quality

Includes inpatient quality measures, ambulatory measures, clinicians access, public reporting, data sharing rights and responsibilities, storage and management of data sets, augmenting clinical data

The success of HITSP is dependent upon volunteer experts from the industry and we welcome and encourage HITSP members to contribute to the HITSP standards harmonization effort. Currently there are a total of 290 individuals participating in the Technical Committees (TC)s, as well as 3 co-chairs for each TC. Please consider volunteering and actively participating in one or more of the following HITSP TCs:

Care Delivery Technical Committee (Medication Management and ER-EHR Use Cases)

Consumer Empowerment Technical Committee (Consumer Access to Clinical Information Use Case)

Population Health Technical Committee (Quality Use Case)

Security and Privacy Technical Committee (Security and Privacy issues for all Use Cases)

Requirements for Committee participation: Your organization is a member of HITSP and your area of expertise is in any of the following areas:

• Subject matter expertise in any of the Use Case domains
• Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) systems
• HIT standard development and implementation
• Healthcare providers/clinicians/informaticists
• Healthcare Information Technology vendors/suppliers

Upcoming Face to Face meeting dates:

June 18^th-20^th - Full Technical Committee and Work Group Meetings; San Diego, CA

September 4^th-6^{th -} Full Technical Committee and Work Group Meetings; Alexandria, VA

Standing Conference Calls with Web Collaboration are the primary means for participation. Dates and times for weekly calls will be provided based on the specific TC schedule.
