Two new HIPAA questions were recently added to the FAQs section of the new CMS website at http://www.cms.hhs.gov/home/tools.asp.     Click on this link, and it will take you to the "Site-wide Tools and Resources" portion of the site.  Then, select "Frequently Asked Questions".

Once you are in the search feature, choose "Regulation and Guidance in the section box; select "HIPAA Administrative Simplification" in the  category space and then select "Education Materials" in the sub category space.  You could also enter a "Search Term" like NPI or Claims Attachments for those specific questions.

The first new FAQ has to do with the conduct of certain electronic transactions for which HIPAA standards have not yet been adopted (ID# 6595).  The second FAQ deals with the issue of what type of business structures are considered "organizations" for NPI purposes (ID# 6594).
