Hi Everyone.
I have a few more documents to share:
A). "Final HIPAA Privacy Rule - Indented". This document is similar to the
HIPAA Security Rule document that I shared last time - I converted the DHHS
(US Dept of Health and Human Services) Adobe PDF documents into easy-to-use
Word documents, then structurally formatted to show relevance and
hierarchy. 42 total pages.
(See attached file: Final HIPAA Privacy Rule - Indented, v0.2.doc)
B). Three documents for creating an unique "HIPAA Security Binder".
===== The 3 documents ======
[B-1]. HIPAA Security Binder, Tabs. "labels for binder v2.0.doc". Use
these for Binder-divider tabs for the "5-tab" version of dividers.
(See attached file: labels for binder v2.0.doc)
[B-2]. "HIPAA Security Binder, Section Separaters.doc". Once you open it,
you will see that these pages make for really good "sectional
tables-of-content".
(See attached file: HIPAA Security Binder, Section Separaters.doc)
[B-3]. "security regulation text, in binder-pages format.doc". In my
binders, I place one of each sheet behind the divider from step [1] above.
Each page contains not only the citation from Final Rule that pertains to
that requirement, but also the necessary hierarchical text that helps the
reader to gain contextual information about the requirement. (All of this
language is making it more mysterious than it actually is -- just take a
look and print a few pages out, you will know what I mean.)
(See attached file: security regulation text, in binder-pages format.doc)
===== The order of creating the Binder ======
My plan for creating the unique HIPAA Security Rule binder is:
- The Indented / ColorCoded Final Rule (see my posting from before.)
- A Larger, thicker divider page for the title "Administrative Safeguard"
- Step [2]'s TOC for this entire Safeguard / Requirement
- Step [1]'s divider tab, then Step [3]'s formal text; Repeat for all
requirements, then move on to the next Safeguard / Requirement.
===== Customization for CE-specific Binder ======
When I am done with the "shell", I then begin to populate the book with
CoveredEntity-specific policies, procedures, sample reports, inventories,
charts, etc.
Let me know what you think about this approach, and whether you find this
helpful or not.
