CMS, Office of E-Health Standards and Services (OESS),
formerly known as the Office of HIPAA Standards (OHS), proposes to establish a
new system to electronically track the complaint and enforcement process of
HIPAA regulations for violations of Transactions and Code Sets, Security, and
Unique Identifiers. I have attached the July 6, 2005 Federal Register Summary
and Notice of the HIPAA Information Tracking System (HITS).

It appears that OESS is getting a system ready for managing
the complaint investigation and enforcement process for HIPAA Administrative
Simplification when the Enforcement Rule becomes final. The Enforcement
Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) was published in the Federal Register
April 18, 2005.
You can view/download the Enforcement NPRM from Simply HIPAA’s
