If you are a health care provider, do you need an NPI?
If so, how do you receive an NPI? Where can you go with questions?
How do you complete the NPI application form? Which NPI application form will
you need?
An instructional web tool, NPI Viewlet, will answer these
questions and more!
http://www.cms.hhs.gov/medlearn/npi/npiviewlet.asp
-- provide background and compliance overview training on NPI, links to the NPI
Final Rule and other related documents, and step-by-step walkthrough for
completing the NPI application (individual & group)
Health care providers may apply for there NPI now! All
covered entities except small health plans must begin using the NPI on May 23,
2007. Small health plans have an additional year. You will need to
coordinate with your trading partners to determine the actual date you may
begin using your NPI in standard transactions with each health plan to which
you submit claims.
To further assist with enumeration of NPI, the NPPES website
was launched Monday, May 23, 2005. Here you can find information about
NPI enumeration process and access an NPI application.
Visit https://nppes.cms.hhs.gov
on the web.
